ACCROchet Hook Case

MATERIALS Base & Tie : 1 Ball Ww (4/medium) yarn I used Simply Soft in a creamy off-white Holder : Small amount sport / fingering weight (3 or finer) yarn. ooks : Appropriate for each yarn used - see yarn band for recommended size hook I used an H for the base & tie, and an F for the holder.
FINISHED SIZE
Approximately 30-40cm wide x 20cm high Instructions are for a custom-sized hook case - you can make yours as wide or tall as needed to hold your particular collection of tools.
NOTES
The stitch for the Base has no wrong/right side.
STITCHES USED
Ch : chain Sc : single crochet Hdc : half-double crochet Dc : double crochet SI St : slip stich
INSTRUCTIONS FOR BASE
Using Ww & H hook, Ch an uneven number of chains. You'll want your chain to measure approximately 30-40cm (width of base). Row 1 : Sc in 2nd ch from hook, \*dc in next st, sc in next st, repeat from \* across. Turn. Row 2 : Ch 1, sc in 1st dc, \*dc in next sc, sc in next dc, repeat from \* across. Turn. Repeat row 2 until Base measures approximately 20cm (height of base). Do not fasten off!
INSTRUCTIONS FOR BASE BORDER
Working along the 4 sides of your base, work a border in hdc as follows : Round 1 : Ch 2 (does not count as hdc), hdc in each sc and dc across, 3 hdc for corner (mark center hdc), hdc evenly down short side (\*1 hdc in ea sc row end, 2 hdc in ea dc row end), 3 hdc for corner (mark center hdc), 1 hdc in each remaining loop of chain, 3 hdc for corner (mark center hdc), hdc evenly up short side (1 hdc in ea sc row end, 2 hdc in ea dc row end), 3 hdc for corner (mark center hdc), sl st in 1st hdc (skipping ch 2). Rounds 2-5 : Ch 2 (does not count as hdc), hdc in each hdc around, 3 hdc in each corner (marking center hdc), sl st in 1st hdc (skipping ch 2). Fasten off, weave in ends.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR HOLDER
Using contrast yarn & hook, Ch 9. Row1 : Dc in 3d ch from hook, dcin next ch, sk next ch, 5 dcin next ch, sk next ch, dc in next ch, dc in last ch. Turn. Row 2 : Ch 3 (counts as 1st dc), dc in next dc, ch 1, 5 dc in 3rd dc of 5 dc cluster, ch 1, dc in next dc, dc in top of turning ch. Repeat Row 2 until Holder measures same as Base width when pulled slightly Otherwise your holder will slacken & let go of your precious hooks.. Fasten off, weave in ends.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR TIE
You could also substitute this Tie with a matching ribbon! Using WW & H Hook, Ch 81 Row 1 : Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. OR FSC80. (If you are not familiar with foundation stitches, google them and save a lot of time!) Fastern off, weave in ends.
ASSEMBLY
Sew center of Tie to center of outer Base. With thread to match Base, sew Holder to Base along all 4 sides of holder. ou're done! Insert hooks in the Holder, fold case together & tie with a pretty bow.
