Welcome!

The straight rib and twisting cable design of these gloves reminded me of train tracks, so here follows the Ghost Train pattern. All instructions are written clearly any abbreviations are explained on this page. The gloves are knitted all in one piece (no need to knit thumb separately) and then a seam sewn up the side. It is a good idea to tick off rows as you complete them as sometimes it is hard to tell when you are up to in the cable sequence. Cables are made every $5^{\mathrm{th}}$ row. I would love to see any photos of your finished gloves if you would like to send them to me (pixelatedmushroom@gmail.com). Feel free to contact me if you have any worries or questions.

Yarn

I used Moda Vera Pure Wool 8ply (Ravelry link: http://www.ravelry.com/yarns/library/moda-vera-pure-wool-8ply ) but other 8ply wool of your choice should have a similar effect. The gloves are ribbed so will stretch to fit your hand/wrist.

A little about how cables work

Cables are made by lifting a section of stitches behind or in front of another section of stitches. Using this technique you can make lots of lovely textures including plaiting, twisting and weaving effects. There are several ways to make cables. This pattern uses a cable needle (or double pointed needle or crochet hook) to lift the section of yarn in front or behind the current knitting until you are ready to knit/purl that section.

Enlarging the Pattern

Pattern should stretch to most women's hands, but if you're worried (if you're a very tight knitter etc) and wish to add a little extra, you can always add section to the width

Right Hand

Odd rows: Add an extra 'p3, k2' after the first stitch of the row Even rows: Add an extra ‘p2, k3' before the last stitch of the row

Left Hand

Odd rows: Add an extra 'p2, k3' before the last stitch of the row Even rows: Add an extra 'p3, k2' after the first stitch of the row
