
Pattern Notes: IMateriais: Size 1 (2.25 mm) set of 2 circular needles or size needed to get a gauge of 10.5 stitches per inch in K1tbl, P1 rib. 1 Skein of Hazel Knits Artisan Sock (400 yards) Colorway used in model is ShannyPants Locking Stitch Marker Cable Needle · 3 different colored ring markers ·For the most part, this sock has a very stretchy pattern. Without stretching, the medium socks measure 6.5 inches (16.5 cm) and the large 7.25 inches (18.5 cm). ·Please note that an entire round in this pattern refers to working both needle 1 and needle 2. Using the Twisted German Cast On, cast on 64 (72) stitches and join in the round, being careful not to twist (you may want to use a locking marker to mark needle one).
The Cuff:
Round 1: \*K1tbl, P1; repeat from the \* across the entire round. Continue to repeat ribbing round until 2 total inches (5 cm) or desired length of ribbing has been worked.
Sock Leg:
Round 1: \*K1tbl, P1, 3-st RPC, P1, (K1tbl, P1) until 6 stitches remain on needle one, 3-st LPC, P1, K1tbl, P1; repeat from the \*across needle two to complete the rest of the round. Round 2:\*K1tbl, P1; repeat from the \* across the entire round. Round 3:\*3-st LPC, (P1, K1tbl) until 5 stitches remain on needle one, P1, 3-st RPC, P1; repeat from the \* across needle two to complete the rest on the round. Round 4: \*K1tbl, P1; repeat from the \* across the entire round. Repeat rounds 1-4 for 8 total times (32 rows) or until the leg of the sock reaches your desired length.
Heel Flap:
Note: The heel fap and heel are worked over the first 32 (36) stitches (needle one) and are knit flat rather than worked in the round. Row 1: Sl 1 pwise, \*P1, K1tbl; repeat from the \* until 1 stitch remains, P1. Row 2: S1 1 pwise, \*P1tbl, K1; repeat from the \* until 1 stitch remains, P1. Repeat rows 1 and 2 until the total heel fap measures 2.5 inches (6.5 cm) or desired length. Heel: Row 1: Sl 1 pwise, K 18 (21), SSK, K1, turn work. Row 2: S1 1 pwise, P7 (8), p2tog, P1, turn work. Row 3: S1 1 pwise, knit to 1 stitch before the gap, ssk, K1, turn work. Row 4: Sl 1 pwise, purl to 1 stitch before the gap, p2tog, P1, turn work. Repeat rows 3 and 4 until all heel stitches have been worked. You will now have 20 (22) stitches.
Gusset:
Round 1: Knit across 20 (22) heel stitches, and with the same needle (needle 1) pick up 1 stitch per slipped stitch along the edge of the heel flap. Using needle 2, K1tbl, P1, 3-st RPC, P1, (K1tbl, P1) until 6 stitches remain on needle two, 3-st LPC, P1, K1tbl, P1, pm, pick up the same number of stitches along the side of the heel flap as was picked up on the opposite side.
Round 2:
Needle One: Knit until 3 stitches remain, K2tog, K1. Needle Two: \*K1tbl, P1; repeat from the \* to the marker, sm, k1, ssk, k to the end of the needle.
Round 3:
Needle One: Knit all stitches. Needle Two: 3-st LPC, (P1, K1tbl) until 5 stitches remain before marker, P1, 3-st RPC, P1, sm, knit all remaining stitches. Needle One: Knit until 3 stitches remain, K2tog, K1. Needle Two: \*K1tbl, P1; repeat from the \* to the marker, sm, k1, ssk, k to the end of the needle. Needle One: Knit all stitches. Needle Two: K2, pm, \*K1tbl, P1; repeat from the \* until 2 stitches remain before the marker, pm, K2, sm, k to the end of the needle. Needle One: Knit until 3 stitches remain, K2tog, K1. Needle Two: Knit until 1st marker, \*K1tbl, P1; repeat from the \* to the 2nd marker, k to the 3rd marker, K1, SSK, knit to the end of the needle. Needle One: Knit all stitches. Needle Two: Knit until 1st marker, remove marker, K2, replace marker, \*K1tbl, P1; repeat from the \* until 2 stitches remain before 2nd marker, pm, K2, remove marker, K to the 3rd marker, sm, knit to the end of the needle. Repeat rounds 6 and 7 until 64 (72) total stitches remain, ending with round 6.
The Foot:
Round 1: Needle One: Knit all stitches. Needle Two: Knit until 1st marker, \*K1tbl, P1; repeat from the \* to the 2nd marker, k to the 3rd marker, remove marker and slip all remaining stitches to needle 1. Needle One continues to mark the beginning of the round, despite the moved stitches.
Round 2:
Needle One: Knit all stitches. Needle Two: Knit until 1st marker, remove marker, K2, replace marker, \*K1tbl, P1; repeat from the \* until 2 stitches remain before 2nd marker, pm, K2, remove marker, K to the end of the round. Note: You will want to try on the socks for fit since we have switched from ribbing and cables to stockinette. If you need to continue decreases, you may do so by doing the following at the same time as the foot pattern. You will be decreasing 4 stitches every other round and will slip or move markers as needed. Needle One: K1, SSK, Knit until 3 stitches remain, K2tog, K1. Needle Two: K1, SSK, Work in pattern until 3 stitches remain, K2tog, K1
Round 3:
Needle One: Knit all stitches. Needle Two: Knit until 1st marker, \*K1tbl, P1; repeat from the \* to the 2nd marker, Knit to the end of the round. Repeat round 2 and 3 until there are no remaining stitches between the markers on Needle 2. Remove markers and knit all stitches. Continue to knit all stitches until 1.5 (2) inches remain before total desired foot length. Toe: Round 1: \*K1, SSK, Knit until 3 stitches remain on needle, K2tog, K1; repeat from \* on needle 2. Round 2: Knit all stitches. Abbreviations: 3-st LPC: Slip 1 stitch to cn and hold to the back, k1tbl, P1, K1tbl from cn. 3-st RPC: Slip 2 stitches to cn and hold to back, K1tbl, P1 from cn, K1tbl from cn CN: Cable Needle K: Knit K1tbl: Knit a stitch through the back loop twisting it P: Purl P2tog: Decrease 1 stitch by purling 2 stitches together. P1tbl: Purl 1 stitch though the back loop twisting it. Sl 1 pwise: Slip 1 stitch as if to purl SSK: Decrease 1 stitch by slip, slip, knitting the 2 slipped stitches together.
