-US size 11/ 8 mm- circular 16"needles AND a set of DPNs, unless using magic loop method -Super Bulky weight yarn or 3 strands of worsted weight if you can get gauge; Child- 90 yards + (10 yards for ears) Adult- 105 yards + (10 yards for ears) Gauge: = 11 x 18 = 4"/10cms

Instructions:
CO 50, 60 sts with cast on method of choice. This portion of the hat is knit flat. Knit 1row Patternsetup: Row 1 (RS): Slip 1"t stitch, p1, k1, p1, knit to last 4 sts, p1, k1, p1, k1 Row 2 (Ws): Slip 1st stitch, k1, p1, k1, purl to last 4 sts, k1, p1, k2 Continue these 2 rows until piece measures 2 %"/ cm from cast on edge. End after finishing a "row 2" Repeat the following 2 rows until piece measures 6" from cast on edge Row 1 (RS): Slip 1st stitch, p1, k1, p1, knit to last 4 sts, p1, k1, p1, k1 Row 2 (WS): Slip 1st stitch, k1, p1, k1, purl to last 4 sts, k1, p1, k2

Knit all stitches to end, join in round being careful not to twist and place a stitch marker to note the BOR. For child size skip to round 4.
