Materials: 1 skein Recycled Silk Yarn (dist by Frabjous Fibers) US #8 needles, straight and dpns tapestry needle 1large button Gauge: 14sts/4in in garter st Size: approx 10" wide and 7"tall Key: CO- cast on BO - bind off k-knit kf&b - knit in front and back of st (increase made) k2tog - knit two sts together sl - slip skp - sl 1 st as if to knit, knit next st, pass slipped st over the st you knit (decrease made) pm - place marker - repeat instruction between asterisks Bag Back: CO 12 sts and make a triangle as follows: Row 1: kf&b, k1, turn; sl 1, k to end Row 2: kf&b, k3, turn; sl1, k to end Row 3: kf&b, k5, turn; sl 1, k to end Continue in this manner, increasing in the first st then knitting across two additional sts each row before turning and knitting back across until all but Ist have been worked (22 sts on needle). Next row: kf&b, k to end, turn (23 sts); pm and CO 12 sts. Beginning with Row 1, make a second triangle as before ending at marker (46 sts). Sl marker and knit to end of row. Next row: kf&b, kto 2 sts before marker, skp, sl marker, k to end. Repeat this row until bag measures 7in from CO edge. Bias short row1: \*fb,kto2sts before marker, skp, sl marker, ktolast st and tun work, leaving I st unworked\*; repeat \*..\* Bias short row 2:\*kf&b, k to 2 sts before marker, skp, sl marker, k to last 2 sts and turn work, leaving 2 sts unworked\*; repeat \* . \* Bias short row3:\*&b, kto2sts before marker, skp, sl marker, tolast3sts and tun work, leaving 3 sts unworked\*; repeat \*.\* Continue working bias short rows as established, leaving 1 additional st unworked until 8 sts are unworked each end. BO center 30 sts; place 8 sts each edge onto holders for straps. Bag Front: work as for back Assemble Bag: Sew bag sides and bottom. Weave in ends. Straps (make 2): Slide 8 sts from one holder to one dpn. Join yarn and kztog across (4 sts). Work i-cord on remaining 4 sts unti strap measures approx 12". Slide 8 sts from holder diagonally opposite the corner where you started the strap to another dpn. Attach strap to opposite side using3-needle BO as follows: \*k 1 st from strap together with 2 sts from bag side\*; repeat across, binding off AT SAME TIME. Finishing: Weave in any remaining ends. Sew button onto front of bag. Cast2 sts onto one dpn and work 2-st i-cord to desired length of button loop. Attach button loop to back of bag. de lecet (French for "of lace")
