"That Darn Hat

A simple variation on rice stitch. Very flexible in terms of yarn used and gauge. Great for beginners or if you just need a mindless, TV watching projiect. This pattern is meant for that darn ball of yarn that you picked up just to pickit up. Hey it was one sale! You'll figure out a project eventuall... right?
Required Materials:
Needles: US 7 16" Circular and US 7 DPNS Yarn Used in Samples: Schachenmayr SMC Aventica Other Materials: 10 (or however many multiples of 10 you cast on) markers, tapestry needle for BO Instructions: CO 100 sts (or multiple of 10)

Sfip Sfp Knit Stitcfes Stocfjnette Stitch Througfi Back,Loop tog Together WS Wrong Side Yam Over Join in the round, being careful not to twist sts PM for beginning of round Brim: K1, P1 rib for 1 inch Body: R1: K all R2: K1, P1 Repeat these two rows for 5 inches, ending on R2 Crown: R1: \*ssk, knit 8, PM\*, repeat \* to \* around R2: (K, \*K1, P1\* repeat \* to \* to marker, SM), repeat ( to ) R3: \*ssk, K to marker, SM\*, repeat \* to \* around R4: K1, P1 around, SM as you go. R5: same as R3 Switch to DPNs when sts become too tight on the circular needles. Repeat R2-5 until you have 10 sts left ssk around. Cut yarn. Weave tail into remaining sts and tie off. Weave in ends.
