Wonked from the top down, this hat is knit in a simple pattenn that apneans veny complex, yielding an intricate and onganic-looking nesult. SIZE One size fits most adults; this hat is very forgiving. MATERIALS 1 - 16" size US #3 (3mm) circular needle, (or size to obtain gauge) 1 set US # 3 (3mm) double pointed needles. ring marker YARN: 1 skein Koigu KPPPM, 100% Merino. (175yds/50g per skein). GAUGE 6 sts = 1"in pattern, unblocked ABBREVIATIONS sl = slip wyif = with yarn in front PATTERN STITCH (Multiple of 5 sts) Rnds 1 & 2: K. Rnd 3: (P 2, sl 3 sts wyif) around. @2008 Rosie Knits. PATTERN: Note: Work all increases by picking up the running thread between two stitches and knitting into the back of it. When increasing at a point between two double pointed needles, pick up the running thread between the two needles, place it on the left-hand needle and then knit into the back of it. Cast on 10 sts and divide onto 4 dpns as follows: 2, 3, 2, 3. Place marker to show beg of rnd and join. Rnd 1: K. Rnd 2: (K1, incr) around, slipping marker as you come to it. (20 sts) Rnd 3: K. Rnd 4: (K2, incr) around. (30 sts) Rnd 5: (P2, sl 3 wyif) around. Rnd 6: K. Rnd 7: (K3, incr) around. (40 sts) Rnd 8: (P2, sl 3 wyif) around. Rep rounds 6-8, incr 10 sts on each incr round and adding one stitch more between increases each time (e.g., Rnd 7 becomes (K4, incr) around, then (K5, incr) around, and so on), until there are 13 sts between the increases. (140 sts) Change to circular needle when comfortable. Cont in patt without further increases for 17 repeats. K 1 rnd. Work 17 rnds of twisted rib pattern: All rnds: (K1 tbl, p1) around. Bind off and weave in ends.
