TEENYSCANDINAVANHAT

Materials: Small amount of fingering weight yarn in two contrasting colors. For sample, main colors (MC) is red and contrasting color (CC) is white. Size 3 needles
Gauge:
With MC, CO 72 sts and join to knit in the round. Rnds 1-6: $\ast_{\mathsf{k}2}$ ,$\mathsf{p}2^{*}$ , repeat around. Rnd 7 (first row of chart): k with MC. Chart repeats 9 times around hat. Rnd 8: Continue to follow chart, knitting all sts and adding contrasting color. After rnd 27 is worked, adjust sts so that first 36 sts are on one needle and last 36 sts are on a second needle. Flip hat inside out and work a 3 needle bind off. To modify for a larger (or smaller) child there are two options: a) Use heavier weight yarn and/or larger needles to adjust for gauge, or b) Increase/decrease the stitch count in multiples of 4 using the first four sts of chart. If you choose this method, you may need to repeat some of the patterns to add more height to the hat.
