A hat pattern by Kali S. Berg Size: 19- 22 inch head circumference Gauge : 4.5st/inch in ribbing

Yarn:

Approx. 150 yds of worsted weight wool

Notions :

US 6 & US 8 circular needles (16 inch) Measuring tape Darning needle Scissors Stitch Marker US 8 DPNs (set of 4 or 5)

Abbre viations :

CO: Cast On K4tog: Knit four stitches together through the front loops YO: bring yarn to the front and over the right hand needle before knitting next stitch Pm: place marker st: stitch CD: centered decrease. Slip 2 stitches as if to knit, Knit 1, pass slipped stitches over Knit stich.

Patte rn:

1. With US 6 CO 88 using long tail CO method, pm and join to knit in the round. 2. Knit 3 inches in K2, P2 ribbing 3. Continuing in the ribbing, increase by 10 stitches evenly in the next round 4. Switch to US 8 circular and begin Ostrich Lace Panel Ostrich Plume Lace Panel Row1:Knit13,Purl 1 Row2:Knit13,Purl 1 Row 3: {K4tog, [yo,K1] 5 times, yo, K4tog, Purl 1} Repeat 7 times around Row4:Knit13,Purl1 5. Continue in pattern for 7 repeats of the panel 6. Decrease (beginning on row 3 of the 8th repeat ofthe lace panel. The slouch factor can be increased or decreased by doing more or less repeats of the lace pattern. The hat photographed has 7 FULL pattern repeats before beginning decreases. a. K4tog, k1, [yo,k1] 4 times, K4tog, P1 (84 st) b. Knit 1 round in pattern c. K1, K2tog, K5, K2tog, K1, P1 (70 st) d. Knit 1 round in pattern e. K4tog, yo, K1, yo, K4tog, P1 (42 st) f. Knit 2 rounds in pattern g. K2tog, K1, K2tog, P1 h. Knit 2 rounds in pattern i．[CD, P1] 7 times (14 st) j.Knit around 7. Cut 8"” tail, using darning needle, weave through remaining stitches.
