Worsted weight Size 10 and size 8 needles (dpns) Cast on 3 sts. Work I cord long enough to fit snugly around the head of person for whom you are knitting. When you have completed the I cord, graft but do not cut yarn. Pick up sts from I cord and arrange on size 10 needles. Join into round and knit 5 rounds. If you are knitting for child, knit one less stitch AND one less round in between decreases (eg, start with K4, K2tog, rep and knit 5 rounds). Dec round 1: \*K 5, K2tog, rep Knit 6 rounds. Dec round 2: \*K 5, K2tog, rep Knit 4 rounds. Dec round 3:\*K4, K2 tog, rep Knit 4 rounds. Dec round 4: \*K3, K2tog, rep Knit 2 rounds. Dec round 5: \*K3, K2 tog, rep Knit 7 rounds. Dec round 6: \*K2, K2tog, rep Knit 1 round. Dec round 7: \*K2, K2tog, rep Knit 1 round Dec round 8: \*K2tog, rep Knit 1 round. Dec round 9: \*K2tog, rep Gather remaining stitches on size 8 dpns. Knit I cord 6 rows. Bind off, weave in ends.
