Killer-Karpfen

You need: 40 grams of black Sock-Wool (210 meters/50 gram) 30 grams of Sock-Wool in contrasting colours. I used: Regia Flusi in pink (Susi 1801) and turquoise (Bollo 1805) 2.5mm circular needle or set of DPNs Cast on 128 stitches in black (I used the long-tail cast-on method) and close the circle. Knit 15 rows alternating one knit and one purl stitch. After the first row in black, add the contrast colour (turquoise) and use this colour for all purl stitches (knit stitches are black). Try it on...each head is different, you might have to start again with a different number of stitches. Knit one row in black, increasing one stitch after each second stitch (128+64=192 Stitches). Knit Chart A. Please note!!!! in the first row, increase one stitch after every 16th stitch (192+12=204 stitches)!!! With the correct number of stitches, Chart A can be knitted eight and a half times in each row. 1 knitted rows 10-17 and 33-40 in pink (fish), rows 1-8 and 19- 31 in turquoise (waves). Knit one row in black, decrease 4 stitches evenly (200 stitches). Knit Chart B1 and/or B2 in pink (both Charts cover 25 stitches and you can knit 8 carps, either living or as fishbones, depending on your taste). Switch to turquoise at row 31. The remaining 8 stitches are knit one black, one turquoise for seven rows, cut off the turquoise and pull inside, cut the black and pass through remaining stitches two times, pull tight and pull inside. :ure threads (you can make knots, it does not really matter) Wash your tam in wool detergent, roll into towel to remove excess moisture and let it dry on a big round plate...and wear with pride!

Let one of the small fish in Chart A swim against the stream, replace it by another animal of your choice or leave a fish out and embroider it later in a contrasting colour...the possibilities are endless.
