Holly- SoSightly Scarf by Linda Drage
This scarf pattern has been designed especially for fivemoons Comet AMN4 (4ply). Comet AMN4 is a very special yarn which does not behave like most other 4plys, due to it's angora content. Any yarn containing angora fibre has a strong tendency to 'loft' - that is, increase in volume - quite considerably. Angora possesses high insulation values, but felts very easily with the slightest friction. This means that it swells up in use, keeping the wearer very warm, but felts if worn as a sweater. It is therefore ideal for small items such as gloves, scarves, hats and shawls, giving maximum warmth at the extremities. It is soft and luxurious to wear, and a pleasure to knit. Knitted too tightly, angora can become an unyielding fabric, and unpleasant to wear. When knitting with this yarn, bear your tension in mind. If you usually have a standard tension, the recommended needle size should work. If you knit tightly go up a needle size, or even a size and a half. Better slightly too loose as it makes a softer, fluffier fabric. The slip-stitch pattern used here is also prone to drawing the fabric in, so care with your tension is important for a good result.

Materials
1 x 100g fivemoons Comet AMN4 (40% merino, 40% angora, 20% nylon; approx. 400m/ 100g; pictured in Bottled Rabbit) 5mmstraight needles A bodkin/ large tapestry needle
Size
The finished scarf measures 10 x 52 inches/ 25.5 x 132cm. It is easily extended in length by repeating the instructions for the four-row slip stitch panel to the required length, but bear in mind that more yarn will be required, pro rata. The basic length scarf used all but two metres of the 1oog skein.
Tension
22 stitches x 26 rows = 4 x 4 inches/10 x 10 cm in slipstitch pattern on 5mm needles, after blocking. The cream swatch pictured is included to give a clear impression of how the stitch looks. If you are knitting to the recommended tension, your stitches will not be as clearly defined.
