Materials:
Classic Elite Yarns “Chalet", 3 skeins, or 295yds bulky yarn #10.5 US needles or size needed to get gauge Gauge: 4.75sts & 6 rows = 1" in cable pattern.
Pattern Abbreviations:
LT- Left Twist; Knit into the back leg of the 2nd stitch on left hand needle then knit 1st stitch on left hand needle, slide both stitchs onto right hand needle. RT- Right Twist; K2tog, but do not slip off; knit 1st stitch once more, then slide both stitches onto to right hand needle. BC4: Back Cable 4: slip 2sts to cable needle and hold in back; k2, k2 from cable needle. FC4: Front Cable 4: slip 2sts to cable needle and hold in front; k2, k2 from cable needle.
TO MAKE:
Cowl is worked flat and joined with a kitchener stitch. If you prefer, you can cast on and bind off as usual and seam. Provisional Cast On 52sts. R1 & all WS Rows: K4, p3, k1, p36, k1, p3, k4. R2 & 6: K4, LT, k1, p1, k36, p1, LT, k5. R4:K5, RT, p1, (BC4, k4, FC4) 3x, p1, k1, RT, k4. R8: K5, RT, p1, (k2, FC4, BC4, k2) 3x, p1, k1, RT, K4. Repeat R1-8 until cowl measures about 31", then R1 once more. Take out provisional cast on and place stitches on 2"d needle. With WS together, graft together with kitchener stitch. Weave in ends, block lightly if desired. ENJOY!
