Note: eyelets are supposed to be on the right front for girls and on the left one for boys. In this pattern they are on the left side, for a girl cardigan just make the eyelet at the end of row instead of the beginning, or turn the cardigan inside out (garter stitch is double face..) once you've finished it, before making the i-cord edging. You can use a safety pin to mark the right side. Row 15: (you make the 1s eyelet here) k2, yo, ssk, kto 1 st to 1s M, [k1fb, SM, k1fb, k to 1 st to M] 3 times, klfb, SM, k1fb, k to end [total sts 94 (104, 114)] Row 16: (and every next even row): k. At the same time make the eyelets (see row 15) on rows: 23, 31, 39 (preemie size doesn't require the last eyelet) Raglan increases end on row 17 (27, 35), on next row drop sleeves sts from needle and thread them on scrap yarn [total st. 102 (152,194)] : Row 18 (28, 36): k to 1st M, remove it, thread 19 (32, 42) sts on scrap yarn (better in contrasting color), remove 2"d M, CO 2 sts, k to 3rd M, remove it, thread 19 (32, 42) sts on scrap yarn, remove 4" M, CO 2 sts, k to end. [total sts 78 (96, 110)] K until you reach desired lenght (about 6 (8, 12)cm more) Finish the edge with an i-cord bind off: CO 2 sts, \*k2, ssk, slip those 3 sts from right to left needle and begin again from \* Once you've bound off all the sts of the lower edge, pick up the sts from the next front edge, from the neck line and from the next front edge and go on with the i-cord bind off to 3 sts to end. Sl the 1st st, k the next 2 sts tog pass the 1st st over the 2 sts you've just k tog. Cut yarn leaving a 20cm long tail, secure it and weave in end.

Sleeves:

Move the sleeves sts from scrap yarn to a long circular needle (if you're using the magic loop technique) or to a set of dpns. At the end of the 1st round CO 2 st and join for working in the round. Continue in garter stich, knit 1 round and purl the next, until you reach desired lenght (about 6 (9, 11)cm). Finish with the i-cord bind off (see yellow box above).

Finishing:

Seam the underarms holes. Weave in ends, trim tails, attach buttons, wash and block lightly if desired.
