Vite fait, Bien fait A super easy cowl by Cécile Berne

Each side gives a different look, and this cowl can be worn either side out. "Vite fait, Bien fait" is a popular French expression to designate something done quickly, but still done well. I thought this was an appropriate name for this cowl, done very rapidly using huge needles and super-bulky yarn, resulting in an interesting piece. This cowl is knitted flat, using a mistake rib pattern. The edges are sewn together in a staggered manner.

Yarn: 1 skein of Super Bulky Yarn (I used Malabrigo Rasta, 90 yards, 150 g) Needles: US size #19 (15 mm) Gauge: 6 stitches and 10 rows = 4 " / 10cm in patterm Note that gauge is not very important for this project. Finished measurement: 9X18"

Pattern:

Cast on 18 stitches using the method of your choice. as if purling with yarn in front, bring yarn back, knit all remaining stitches purling with yarn in front, purl 1, \*knit 2, purl 1\*; repeat \* to \* to last stitcl until desired length (the knitted rectangle should wrap around your neck) Bind-off loosely. Seam the cast-on and bind-off edges, off-setting them by 2 ridges (by aligning the four first ridges from the cast on edge with the four last ones on the bind off one, as pictured below). Weave the ends and proudly wear in a cold day.
