Dimma -fingerless mitts
The mitts are knit using magic loop. Yarn: Alafoss lopi 100g white, 50 g red, 50 g blue Needles: 6 mm circular needle. Gauge: 16 stitches/10 cm, 19 rows/10 cm. .= purl. \=ssk. Slip, slip, knit. Decrease leaning to the left. /= k2tog. Knit two together. Decrease leaning to the right. >= estonian braid. += increase 1 stitch. = smock round. C= bind off. Estonian braid: Increase 1 stitch using red = First "braid stitch'. \* Knit 1 white stitch, change places of the white and red stitch. The red stitch goes in front of the white stitch. Put the red stitch back on the left needle. Knit the red stitch using blue. Knit 1 white stitch, change places of the white and blue stitch. The blue stitch goes in front of the white stitch. Put the blue stitch back on the left needle. Knit the blue stitch using red. \* Repeat from \* to \* 1 round. Then decrease the "braid stitch". Smocked round: Skip 6 stitches. Pull out the yarn between the 6'h and 7th stitch. Put the loop on the left needle. Knit the loop together with the next stitch and continue knitting in pattern.
Smocked round Thumb: Thumb is worked in on round 28 in chart. Right mitt: Purl 1, work the next 6 stitches with scrap yarn. Put the 6 stitches back on left needle and work them in pattern. Left needle: Work 9 stitches, work the next 6 stitches with scrap yarn. Put the 6 stitches back on left needle and work them in pattern. Finish the rest of the mitten. Remove scrap yarn and catch the 12 live stitches. Work thumb chart. Pattern: Cast on 40 stitches using twoendknitting cast on with 1 blue and 2 red threads. Change to white and start knitting in the round from the chart. Knit 1 red round before binding off. Bind off with every other stitch red and every other with blue.
Chart Bind off, alternating red and blue. Change to red. Tumb on this round. Bind off alternating red and blue. Change to red.
