Materials

Yarn: Worsted Weight - approx 200yds. Sample cowl knit with Merino/Silk in Fresh From the Cauldron's The Cowardly Lion Colorway. Needles: Us 8 (5mm) 1 16 inch Circular Needle, or size needed to obtain gauge. Gauge: 20 sts per 4 inches (10cm) Finished Size: approx 10.5 in (26.7cm) long, 19 in $(48.3\,\mathsf{c m})$ wide. To adjust size, increase or decrease total number of CO sts by multiples of 4, though note, your overall yardage will vary.

Seed Stitch Pattern

(Repeat from \* to \*) Row l: \*kl, pl\* Row 2: \*p1, k1\*

Main Body Texture Pattern

(Repeat from \* to \*) Row 1: $^{*}\mathsf{k}2.$ , sl 2 sts wyif\* Row 2: \*p2, $k2^{*}$ Row 3: \*sl 2 sts wyif, $k2^{*}$ Row 4: \*k2, $\mathsf{P}2^{*}$

INSTRUCTIONS:

Seed Stitch Edge CO 96 sts, pm and join for knitting in the round. Knit 6 rows in Seed Stitch Pattern. Body Knit in Main Body Texture Pattern for approximately 9 inches (or until desired length), ending with row 4 of pattern. Seed Stitch Edge Knit 6 rows in Seed Stitch Pattern. Finishing BO loosely in seed stitch pattern. Weave in ends. Abbreviations: BO: bind off CO: cast on k: knit p: purl pm: place marker sl 2: slip two stitches as if to purl sts: stitches wyif: with yarn in front

Inspiration: The Cowardly Lion from the Wizard of Oz (both the motion picture and L. Frank Baum's novels) was always one of my favorite characters. In honor of his luscious mane, I wanted to create a cowl with an all-over squishy texture. $\circledcirc$
