Simon loop
Directions
Collect yarn scraps of the same weight. I used scraps of Cascade 220 worsted. The amounts of each do not matter. You can add the colors in whatever order you like. I used a total of 5.9oz/168g to get the size given. You can easily use more or less yarn. I know that another cowl I made in this manner came to length closer to55 inches. Light grey (1.30z/36g) 79.2yds Dark green (1.1oz/32g) 70.4yds Dark blue (.3oz/9g) 22yds Dark grey (1.1oz/32g) 70.4yds Dark red (.6oz/16g) 35.2yds Black (1.5oz/43g) 94.6yds You are going to knit this flat and seam it later. You could provisionally cast on for the loop and Kitchener it together for a seamless loop. Totally up to you.
CO 40 sts.
Knit all rows. Until you run out of the color you are working with. Be sure to leave enough yarn for weaving in later and be sure to end on a wrong side row. On a right side row, start the next color of yarn and knit until it is gone. Continue in this manner until you run out of yarn. Be sure to leave a long enough tail to mattress stich the loop closed. Make sure your knit isn't twisted and mattress stitch the two ends together. Weave in ends and block if you wish.
