Lattice Armwarmers Pattern: Simple, Small-Size Hand Knitting Design for Hiding Lower Arm Tattoos

Lattice Armwarmers

Pattern illustration

These are simple arm warmers designed for a friend of mine who wanted a pair for the office to hide her lower arm tattoo. They do not have thumb gussets, and are only meant to come up to the wrist. There is only one size and they run a little on the small side (approximately $6"$ wrist circumference, and $9\uparrow/2^{\bullet}$ arm circumference right below the elbow).

Materials

5 size $1~\%$ needles (dpns or circulars) 1 cable needle (or a sixth dpn) 150-200 yards of fingering weight sock yarn (l used Lucy Neatby's Celestial Merino, Dark Olive)

Abbreviations

Cr2L: slip st onto cable needle, leave in front, p1, then k1 from the cable needle Cr2R: slip st onto cable needle, leave in back, k1, then p1 from the cable needle C2F: slip st onto cable needle, leave in front, k1, then k1 from the cable needle C2B: slip st onto cable needle, leave in back, k1, then k1 from the cable needle

Pattern

CO 64 (16 on each of 4 needles) Join for working in the round, being careful not to twist (put a marker here if you'd like). K1, p1 rib for 10 rounds.

Round1: [C2F, p6] 8 times, but stop before the last st of the round. Slip the last stitch to needle 1.

Round 2: Cr2R, and then put the first st back on needle 4. Cr2L, p4. Repeat [Cr2R, Cr2L, p4] moving stitches back and forth where necessary, and k the last st. Round 3: [p2, Cr2L, p2, Cr2R] 8 times. Round 4: [p3, Cr2L, Cr2R, p4, Cr2L, Cr2R, p1] 4 times. Round 5: [p4, C2B, p6, C2B, p2] 4 times. Round 6: [p3, Cr2R, Cr2L, P4, Cr2R, Cr2L, p1] 4 times. Round 7: [p2, Cr2R, p2, Cr2L] 8 times. Round 8: p1, Cr2R, p4, Cr2L, Cr2R, p4, Cr2L. \*Continue in this way to the end of the round, moving stitches back and forth where necessary, until last st. Do not knit the last st, but rather slip to a cable needle, purl the first st on needle 1 (becomes the last st on needle 4) and slip the st from the cable needle onto needle 1 (becomes the first st on needle 1 for the next round). Repeat the last 8 rounds 7 times. For the $8^{\mathrm{th}}$ repeat, do the first 6 rows as usual, but make the following changes: Last round 7: [p2, C2B, p2, C2F] 8 times. Last round 8: p1, Cr2R, k1, p2, k1, Cr2L, Cr2R, k1, p2, k1, Cr2L. See \* above. Decrease round: [ssk, p1, k1, p2, k1, p1] 8 times. Do the following rib round 8 times: [k1, p1, k1, p2, k1, p1] 8 times. Decrease round: [k1, p1, k1, p2tog, k1, p1] 8 times. Do a k1, p1 rib for 4 rounds. Bind off LOOSELY in rib. Weave in ends. Make another.
