Jayme's Sock Recipe
Sock weight yarn, enough for pair of socks. 2 2.5 mm 24" circular needles Gauge: 8 stitches/in. Cast-on 10 stitches on each needle:

Place a slip knot on needle. Hold two needles parallel with the slip knot on bottom needle in the cable section of needle. Bring yarn under and over top needle. Continue wrapping tightly around the needle and cable until there are 10 stitches on top needle and 11 stitches (including the slip knot) on the bottom needle.
Toe:
Round 1: Knit the 10 stitches on the top needle. Turn to knit the stitches on the bottom needle. Remove slip knot and knit 10 stitches from bottom needle. Round 2: Knit another round even, placing a stitch marker on the “bottom’ of the sock between stitches 5 and 6. Round 3: Increase on the next round at both ends of each needle as follows: K1, lift the first leg of the stitch below the next stitch onto the needle and knit this stitch (right lifted increase) K across to last stitch. Lift last leg of the stitch below last knitted stitch onto needle and knit this stitch (left lifted increase). Knit last stitch. Alternate rounds 2 and 3 until you have 64 stitches total, 32 on each needle. After working several rows of the toe, adjust any distorted first round stitches, working from the side opposite the yarn end and working across. Work for desired length from beginning of toe (cast on) needed for shoe size (see chart at end of pattern). Decrease or increase this length accordingly for different shoe sizes.
Gusset:
Round 1: Continuing to work in the round, work across top needle. On bottom needle increase each end as follows: K1, inc 1 using right lifted increase, K across to last stitch, inc 1 using left lifted increase, K1. Knit one round even after last increase round. (62 stitches on bottom needle) Round 2: Knit even Repeat these two rounds until there are 62 stitches on the bottom needle ending with a knit even row.

Closing the holes:
To close the holes that can form at the junction of the main body of the sock, gusset and heel flap proceed as follows:

Insert left needle from front to back through the stitch closest to the left needle marked with the white arrow. Then come up from back to front through the stitch marked with red arrow. This puts two more stitches on left needle. Knit first three stitches on the left needle together. Knit across row to last stitch. Then:

Slip the last stitch on the needle as if to knit. Then pick up from front to back the ‘next’ stitch, which is already worked into the side. Put the first stitch back on the left needle, and then knit these two together through the back loop. Knit in the round for 7"’ or until sock is 2" shorter than desired final length. Knit in 2x2 ribbing for 2” and bind off as follows: Knit first two stitches. Place them back on left hand needle and knit tog through back loop. Purl next stitch, place back on left needle and knit tog through back loop. Continue around, knitting or purling the next stitch as it presents until one stitch left. Break yarn and pull through. Using a darning needle, finish off by inserting the yarn tail through the top of the first stitch bound off from front to back, and then down through the top last bound off stitch. Weave end into cuff.
