The Ultimate Spider-man Inspired Knit Hat Pattern with Intarsia Technique and Duplicate Stitch Details

The Ultimate Spider Hat

Pattern illustration

I've always loved Spider-man, and with this hat, you can shout your love for this famous web-spinner to! To make this pattern really shine to its fullest, a jogless stripe technique is required. The hat is knit normally in the round, with the spider duplicate stitched on afterwards. And no, the hat won't swallow you whole- my 6 year old niece was kind enough to model it for me, and as it's an adult hat, it was a bit big on her. :) Yarn: Brava Sport from Knitpicks Red: 120 yards (wine) Black: 60 yards Blue: 22 yards (celestial) Needles: size 3 (US) circular needles Gauge: 6 stitches to an inch in stockinette Finished size: 21 inches Pattern Notes: This pattern calls for 8 single columns of intarsia for the vertical stripes. You will need to cut 8 one meter lengths of black yarn for the intarsia in the pattern. Be sure to twist the yarn when switching colors! You can either let the yarn hang loose and detangle as you go, or form them into butterflies. /D)D1--1---/M1---)D1_/n)n-1

Using duplicate stitch and black yarn, sew spider onto the hat from the pattern below. The spider in the picture is centered over a black intarsia column- don't worry about centering it vertically- the spider takes up the entire red portion of the hat below the decreases.
