Ravelry Solid Sock Clue #1
Dreams-A Tribute Sock to Langston Hughes
PHYLL LAGERMAN Here you go..part one of the pattern. It's just a taste to get you started. Let's see, what can I tell you to get you revved up for the next clue? I can tell you the pattern is both written and charted. That wayeveryone ishappy! The picture was most inspiring to me and I'm hopeful that you all will enjoy the pattern. You can refer to the intro upload for a list of abbreviations. Notes throughout the pattern are in purple. I'll be watching the posts and you can always message me with questions. After all the clues have been released I will put the pattern together in a unified format for future knitting. I actually started another pair of these socks this morning. I'd like to think I'm in that photo sitting on the bench knitting.

PATTERN STITCHES
Ribbing pattern (worked over a multiple of 4 sts, 2 round repeat)
\*\* denotes pattern repeat Rnd 1: \*RT,P2\* Rnd. 2: \*K2, P2\* Repeat these 2 rounds for pattern. If you are a very tight knitter don't be afraid to let the yarn know who's boss when knitting the RT. After you knit the 2 stitches together and before you knit the first stitch again pull the yarn towards you a little bit so you can get into the first stitch. It's easier on your hands and makes the twist look prettier!
INSTRUCTIONS
LEG
Using US 1 needles and the long-tail method cast on 72 sts. Divide your stitches so there are 24-24-24 on the needles. I know a lot of you knit with 2 circulars and you can adjust the instructions to suit your work. Or consider knitting these with double points! Addi has different sizing that some other companies. There US #1 is 2.5 mm and I knit these with a 2.25. If it's looking too big that may be the problem. These socks fit me perfectly (I wish I could say that about the rest of my clothes!). My foot measurements are 11" midcalf and 8" just above ankle bone. Join into round, being careful not to twist stitches. Note: Needle 1 is considered the beginning of the round. Set up round:\*k2, p2\* for 1 round THEN complete 9 repeats of the ribbing pattern. Next round (set up round): knit all stitches. Now that you have that done you can work on some of your other projects and wait for the next clue June 8! 'll leave a teaser or two on the thread for this pattern during the week and be checking in quite often. I'd love to see pictures!
Must knit now,
Phyll
