Abbreviations
k-knit p-purl sl wyif - slip sts with yarn in front sl wyib - slip sts with yarn in back kfbf - knit 3 sts out of one sts pu & k - pick up and knit Construction site is a cute & squashy striped cowl featuring a built in I-cord-edge on one side and an applied garter stitch edge with bobbles and - if chosen - some basic embroidery along the edge. The colors were inspired by a construction site nearby my house - thus the name. The finished cowl reminds me of the Baltic Sea and an old fashioned candy store. Finished Measurements: 61 ins (circumference), 17 ins (deep) Yarn: Any worsted yarn about 200 yards/100 g will do! Sample used the fabulous merino-alpaca-silk blend Organik by The Fiber Company: MC: 280 yards (Arctic Tundra) CC1: 190 yards (Aquatic Forest) CC2: 190 yards (Magma) Gauge: 16-18 sts per 4 ins Needles: Us10/6mm circular needle, 47 ins and 24 ins, 1 stitch-marker, tapestry needle

Section 1 - set up
co 60 sts with provisional co of your choice in mc (I prefere a crochet pco-tutorial linked on page 1) kfirst row
Section 2 - stripes
Section 2 is the body of the cowl, different sequences of stripes with the I-cord in MC all thru section 2. mc&cc1 row 1: sl 3 wyif, with cc1 p to end of row row 2: sl 1 st, k to last 3 sts, switch to mc crossing yarns, k3 row 3: with mc sl 3 wyif, p to end of row row4:sl1st,ktoendofrow repeat rows 1-4 30 times, repeat rows 1 & 2 one more time
cc1& cc2
row 1: sl 3 wyif, with cc2 p to end of row row 2: sl 1 st, k to last 3 sts, switch to mc crossing yarns, k3 row 3: sl 3 wyif, change to cc1, p to end of row row 4: sl 1 st, k to last 3 sts, switch to mc crossing yarns, k3 repeat rows 1-4 30 times, repeat rows 1 & 2 one more time
cc2 &mc
row 1: sl 3 wyif, with mc p to end of row row 2: sl 1 st, k to end row 3: sl 3 wyif, change to cc2, p to end of row row 4: sl 1 st, k to last 3 sts, switch to mc crossing yarns, k3 repeat rows 1-4 29 times, repeat rows 1-3 one more times Graft live sts of both ends of the work together with kitchener stitch!
Section 3- stripes- Garter stitch edge with bobbles
the garter st edge is worked in mc with cc1-colored bobbles. the stripe in cc2 is applied after the knitting is done with right side facing and mc yarn pu & k 274 sts along slipped st edge (picking up 1 st thru both loops of first slipped st, 1 st thru front loop of second slipped st, 1 st thru back loop of same slipped st—3 sts on 4 rows picked up) place marker and join the round, work 4 rows of garter st starting with a purl row \*sl 4 sts wyib, with cc1 kfbf, turn work, purl 3 sts, turn work, sl 1 st, k2tog, pass over slipped st\* repeat to end of row with mc knit 4 rows of garter st starting with a k row bind off loosely (k 1 sts, \*k2togtbl, sl st back to left needle\* repeat until last st, pull thread thru last stitch
Finishing
>Weave in loose ends, attach a band of split stitches along the center knitted rows of the garter sts end “lifting up" the bobbles as you go, Block gently Enjoy!
