This is an asymmetric triangular shawl that is worked from one edge to the other. It is devided into different coloured pattern repetions which each are separated by slip stitches and knitted and purled rows. Used knowledge: knit (k) purl (p) knit two stitches together (k2tog) purl two stitches together (p2tog) slip (sl) with yarn in front (wyif) I-cord-border (RS: k3, WS: sl3 wyif) knit into front and back of stitch (kfb) stitch/es (st/s) Three different colours are needed. Colour A 40 g 160 m ruby coloured Colour B 13 g 52 m curry Colour C 69 g 276 m grey This shawl was worked in Heritage from Cascade (used needle size 3 mm / US 2 1/2). The yardage is 400 m per 100 g. The shawl can also be worked with two or five colours. It is suitable for leftovers. Gauge: 28 sts = 10 cm 36 rows = 10 cm Finished measurements (after blocking): length 184 cm, width 40 cm one edge 120 cm and one edge 80 cm
Tip
At the right edge is an I-cord over three stitches. This has the advantage that sideways running yarn is hidden. The charts show the stitches in each case as the are look from the right side. The rows on the right side are to read from right to the left and the rows on the wrong side from left to the righ' ase respect my copyright. Cast on
Cast on 3 sts in colour A. K3, sl 3 sts to the left needle. DO NOT TURN. Repeat this 3 more times. K3 and keep them on the right needle. Pick up 4 sts along the left edge of the I-cord. Work those sts (k3, kfb). Turn the work and kfb, p to the last 3 sts, sl3 wyif Now the I-cord-border is worked and the first pattern repetition can start. There are 9 sts on the needle. The rows on the right side starts always with 3 knitted stitches, which form the I-cord-border. Then 2 sts are worked together and at the end of the row kfb takes place. The rows on the wrong side starts alway with increasing (kfb) and ends with sl3 wyif (l-cord).

The I-cord brings down to a round figure.

The pattern combines knitted rows (RS) and the change of purled and knitted stitches (WS). The knitted and the purled stitches have to match. DO NOT WORKLIKETHEMOSSSTITCH! Go on with the I-cord and the in- and decreases. Row 1 k3, k2tog, k to the last st, kfb Row2 kfb, \*p1, k1\* to the last 3 sts, sl3 wyif Row3 k3, k2tog, k to the last st, kfb Row4 kfb, \*p1, k1\* to the last 3 sts, sl3 wyif The rows 1 and 2 never change. The chart shows four rows to clarify the pattern. As a result of the increases the even rows always start after the kfb with p1. Work on the pattern as long as there are (counted without the i-cord) 180 sts (82 rows) on the needle. Bind off loosely on right side. Bathe the shawl, block it damp and weave in the ends.
