Garden View Shawlette a knitting pattern by Tracey Withanee
Garden View Shawlette is a mini shawl knit sideways in one piece and features a garter leaf border and eyelet detailing. It knits up quickly and requires only a small amount of yarn. Makes a nice shoulder accent for a summer garden party! Supplies: Debbie Bliss Donegal Luxury Tweed Aran, 200 yards size 8 (5 mm needles) stitch marker(s) - optional Gauge: 18 sts = 4 in (stockinette & size 8 needles)
Design:
The shawl is made up of four basic elements separated by rows of eyelets: an upper border, stockinette body, garter leaf border, and lower slipped stitched border. Knitting starts at the left side. By increasing, knitting 'straight' and decreasing along the eyelet row between body and garter leaf border, a crescent shape is formed. Finished Size: 12.5"h x 52"w Tips: For neat edges slip first stitch purl-wise with yarn in front (sl1p wyif), return yarn to the back of the work and proceed in pattern.

To help follow written instructions place a marker between the garter leaf border and the eyelet row that separates it from the body. The right side of the shawl is represented by odd-numbered rows.

You should now have 25 stitches. Repeat rows 1-34 once more continuing to make increases to shawl body on every right side row by knitting a yarn over after stitch marker. You should now have 42 stitches. Repeat rows 1-34 three times more with the following adjustment on right side, after stitch marker; yarn over, k2tog, proceed in pattern. This ensures no further increases to the body of the shawl. You should have 42 stitches after this section is completed. Repeat rows 1-34 two more times with the following adjustment on right side, after stitch marker; yarn over, k3tog, proceed in pattern. These decreases form the right tip of the crescent. You should have 8 stitches after this section is complete. Work 2 rows in garter stitch before binding off. Sew in ends. Wet blocking is strongly recommended.
