felix

Felix is a jeweler. Before ever going into his shop, l would offen stop and admire his beautiful work. His pieces are modern, light and imaginative. When Miquel and I got married, I knew I wanted Felix to make our simple - but specialto-us - moebius rings. So when designing a pattern with him in mind, an infinity cowl seemed like the perfect choice! Knit in brioche stitch for extra squooshiness and combining 2 different colors because choosing just one is too hard!

Tips
I like to use the ltalian cast on and bind off. They make for an extra stretchy and pretty edge. There are many good videos out there. You can also go up a needle size and use a long-tail cast on and regular bind off.

I find that too much explanation can frequently make things even less clear, but in the case of the brioche stitch, some initial information is warranted. The brioche stitch can seem confusing at first, even though it is only a 2-round repeat. But once you see where the yarn is and where it needs to be, everything is a lot clearer. There are a few very important concepts to keep in mind: 1) The sll is always made with the yarn in front. On the knit rows, you have to bring the yarn between the needles to the front before working the sll. On the purl rows, it is already there after doing the p2tog, so you can go ahead and work the sll without moving the yarn. 2) The k2tog and p2tog always involve the sll and the yarn over from the previous rounds. A step-by-step of the 2 rounds is as follows:
Knit rounds:
1) Bring yarn between the needles to the front and slip the stitch. 2) Carry the yarn up over the needle to the back to make the yarn over. 3) Knit together the slipped stitch and yarn over from the previous round.
Purl rounds:
1) Purl together the slipped stitch and yarn over from the previous round. 2) Leaving the yarn in front after the p2tog, slip the next stitch. 3) Carry the yarn up over the needle to the back to make the yarn over. 4) Carry the yarn forward between the needles to be in position for the p2tog. (This means that after slipping the stitch, you will bring the yarn up over the needle to the back and then between the needles to the front again, wrapping the yarn completely around theneedle.) The beginning of the knit rounds can also be a trouble spot: · When starting a knit round, you are coming off the "sll, yo" from the end of the purl round. So you have slipped a stitch and have brought the yarn over the needle to the back. Now you will slip the marker to the right needle, bring the yarn forward between the needles and slip the first stitch of the round. Then you will bring the yarn up over the needle to the back and k2tog.

Instructions
a 5mm/l00cm circular needle and 2 strands of color A, loosely cast on 100 sts. Place a marker to indicate the beginning of the round and join for knitting in the round. Be careful not to twist the stitches. Set-Up Round (work only once): \*kl, slwyif, yo\*, rep from \* to \* to the end. Round 1: \*sllwyif, yo, k2tog; rep from \* to \* to the end. Round 2: \*p2tog, sllwyif, yo\*, rep from \* to \* to the end. Repeat Rounds 1 and 2 eight times (total of 16 rounds) · Break off one strand of color A and add in one strand of color B. Repeat rounds 1 and 2 sixteen times (total of 32 rounds). - Break the remaining strand of color A and add in the second of color B. Repeat Rounds 1 and 2 eight times (total of 16 rounds) Loosely bind off all stitches. This cowl doesn't really need blocking. I just give it a little stretch and think that's enough. The brioche stitch is very stretchy and will give a little as you wear it.
