I skein of yarn makes 2 washeloths with a littleleftover, gauge is not essential. There are two different washcloth patterns in this document, both patterns use the same stitches but I have labeled the stitch diagrams below so that they correspond with the names given for each washeloth. When I gift these I make two of each pattern as each repetition of stitches stretches differently

Half-Half-Double Washcloth: Instructions
Chain 21 Row t: Half-Double Crochet (hde) in 2nd chain from hook and each chain across. Chain I, turn. -- 2O hde Row 2: HDC in each stitch across, chain 3 turn. The chain 3 counts as the first double crochet (de) of the next row, here and throughout the entire pattern.-- 2O hdc titch (because the chain 3 is your first de), de in each stitch across. Chain 1, turn. -- 20 0 Rows 4-19: Repeat row 2 twice, repeat row 3. Row 2O: HDC in each stitch aeross, fasten off.-- 2O hde Finishing: Weave in and trim all ends, block if desired.
Half-Double-Half Washcloth: Instructions
Chain 21 Row I: Half-Double Crochet (hde) in 2nd chain from hook and each chain across. Chain 3, turn (the chain 3 counts as the first double crochet (de) of the next row, here and throughout the entire pattern). -- 2O hdc Row 2: Skip the first stitch (because the chain3is your first de), de in each stitch across ChainI, turn.-- 2O dc Row 3: HDC in each stitch across.
