Using MC (main color) Ch40, slip st in first ch to form ring R1: dc in each st around, slip st to end row (40) R2: Ch1, dc in each st around, slip st in first dc to end row (40) R3: Switch to CC (contrasting color) rep R2 R4: Rep R2 Switch back to MC R5: Ch1, dc in next 18 st, turn (18) R6: dec dc the first two st, dc in next 14 st, dec dc the last two (16) R7: dec dc the first two st, dc in the next 12 st, dec dc in the last two (14) R8: dec dc in the first two st, dc in the next 10 st, dec dc in the last two (12) R9:dec dc in the first two st, dc in the next 8 st, dec dc in the last two st (10) Turn cover inside out, fold up flap to meet the front of the cover, sl st across. Turn cover right side out. Tie off and weave in ends.
