PUMPKIN HEAD HAT INSTRUCTIONS:
With Orange, Ch 45 , join to form ring (be careful not to twist chain while joining) Then Ch2 Rnd 1: 1 Hdc in same sp as beg ch 2, 1 hdc in next ch and in each ch around, join with sl st to beginning ch-2, then Ch2 \*\*In the next rounds you will be working around the front post (FP) and back post (BP) of each Half double crochet (Hdc) No matter what stitch you are using, It's the same front to back , or back to front, working around the post of the previous stitches. To Work a (FPhdc): Yarn over, insert hook from front to back to front around post of corresponding stitch below, yarn over and pull up loop, yarn over and draw through all loops on hook. \*BPHdc=back post of the half double crochet To Work a (BPhdc): Yarn over insert hook from front to front to back around post of corresponding stitch below, yarn over and pull up loop, yarn over and draw through all loops on hook. Rnd 2: \*1 Hdc around (FP) of next hdc, 1 Hdc around (BP) of next Hdc\*, repeat \*to\* around, join with sl st to beginning ch-2, then Ch 2 \*After round 12 you willn longerbe working around the post of the stithes. \*\* At the end of round 12 FO Orange yarn and attach Brown. Rnds 13-16: \* Ch 2, 1 Hdc in the same sp as beg ch 2 , 1 Hdc in top of each Hdc around, join with sl st to beginning ch-2, then Ch 2\* ; repeat \*to\* for remaining rounds, At the end of round 16 DO NOT Ch2! Rnd 17: ch 1, 1 sc in ea st around, FO Creating the stem: Cut about 12 inches of brown yarn and thread through yarn needle, Weave yarn in and out of the top stitches of round 13, when you have went all the way around, pull both ends of the yarn tight and tie a knot to secure. Weave in ends.
To make Green Leaf:
Rnd 1: 3 sc in second ch from hook, and \*3 sc in next ch\* , repeat \* to \* for the next 13 chs, then 1 sc in each of the last 15 ch/s , ch 3, turn Rnd 2: 1 dc in same sp as beg ch 3 , 2 dc in next sc, and 2 dc in each of the next 5 sc, sl st in next sc, FO.
Attaching Leaf:
Fold the piece in half and form a loop with the straight part in the middle, (you will have the curl and the leaf then a straight section of sc's in the middle) Using about 12 inches of cut yarn and yarn needle, sew leaf just below rnd 13, the gathered part of hat, you can look at the picture above to kind of see where I placed it.
