ABBREVIATIONS:
Chain: ch Slip Stitch: sl st Single Crochet: sC Space: sp Right Side: RS Stitch or stitches: st
BODY OF BAG:
Make 2 mitered squares: Use larger hook and Berroco Geode to begin. Row 1: ch 3, 1 sc in right side of beg ch, 2 ch, 1 sc in left side of beg ch. (you will have 2 sc in beg ch with a ch 2 sp in between) turn. Row 2: ch 2, sc in first sc, sc in ch 2 sp, ch 2, sc in same sp, sc in last sc, turn. Row 3: ch 2, sc in next 2 sc, 1 sc, ch 2, 1 sc in ch 2 sp, 2 sc in next 2 sc, turn. Row 4: ch 2, sc in next 3 sc, 1 sc, ch 2, 1 sc in ch 2 sp, 3 sc in last 3 sc, turn. Continue in this fashion until you have 47 rows of sc. Block Should be approx 11" if gauge is same as pattern.
JOINING BAG ToGETHER & FORMING Trim:
Placing the 2 blocks wrong sides together in diamond shape choose which side will be the front. Join Kollage Cornucopia to smaller hook. Join with a sc through both blocks in the 24th st counting from top of diamond and down the left side of bag. Continue sc through both blocks down top left side until you reach left corner. 3 sc in corner. Continue sc through both blocks in this fashion with a 3sc in next 2 corners stopping at $3^{\mathsf{r d}}$ right corner. You should have 23 remaining rows (or st) left until you reach the top of diamond. FLAP TRiM: Continue sc trim around front flap only, 3 sc in corner. When you get to end of flap join with sl st to remaining back flap. Continue sc trim around back flap, 3 sc in corner. Sl st to front flap to close gap and end off. FRINGE: Taking Cornucopia and cutting into 16" lengths fold in half. Fold in half again and add fringe to front flap of bag. Fringe should be approximately 4" in length. If you have never added fringe before there should be tutorials online or directions in a crochet pattern with fringe. I use my hook to pull loop through st about 1". Then I grab the remaining tails with hook and pull through loop, tighten and you have one piece of fringe. Keep adding to remaining st on front flap. Weave in all ends with a yarn needle. You can add magnetic snaps and the flaps will hide them. Add handle or strap in any fashion you would like. I used a braided handle. This bag was inspired by The Diamond in the Rough by Terry Ross.
