Materials
Worsted Superwash Sock yarn 110 yds in 50 grams (KnitPicks Superwash Swish Worsted— M/L in Cobblestone Heather, and S in Copper) 70 gr (100 g)—more for longer cuff Needles—Size for Gauge of 6 st/inch, sample knit on 3.5 mm (Us 4) dpns; could also be worked on two circulars or Magic Loop Cable needle Yarn Needle Stitch Marker
KEY

NOTES:
Socks are knit with a cabled cuff, and the heel is a classic pigeon flap with turned heel. The 4 x 1 ribbing continues on the top of the gusset to the toe, but the bottom of the foot is knit in stockinette. If you want a snug cuff, consider working 1-2 inches of 1 x 1 ribbing before starting the pattern. Cables—the socks are 'mirrored'. The cables are worked to the right on the right sock; left on the left Size S or (M/L) parentheses-—instructions for Size S are given outside of parentheses and the corresponding Size M/L instruction is given inside, thus: e.g. Cast on 45 (50) st
Instructions
Left Sock
Cast on 44 (50) st; divide work on three needles if desired, and join in round. For those using dpn's, suggest 15, 14, 15 (17, 17, 16) distribution. 1 for 5 RNDS (or more) if desired, increase Size S by one st on last round. 45 (50) st Pattern Rows: RND 1-4: (k4, p1) around RND 5: (C4L, p1) around Repeat RNDs 1-5—two (three or more for longer cuff—write down what you did so you can mimic it on the other sock)more times, then RNDS 1-4 one time
Heel Flap
Row A) k7 (9), kfb (or increase) in next st, k1, Turn Row B)sl 1, p19 (23), Turn -(slip remaining st on needle to top of foot needle—if you like, you can put the top of the foot stitches on two needles, but they are counted as 'NEEDLE 2' as a unit) Working on 20 (24) st back and forth, continue as follows: ROW 1) (sl 1 kw, k1) x 10 (12) turn ROW 2) sl 1 pw, p19 (23) Repeat ROwS 1 and 2-- 8 (10) more times Heel Cup Row 1) sl 1 kw, k11 (13), ssk, k1, turn Row 2) sl 1 pw, p5, p2tog, p1, turn Row 3) sl 1 kw, k6, ssk, k1, turn Row 4) sl 1 pw, p7, p2tog, p1, turn Continue Rows 3 and 4, working one st further along each row, until all stitches are used up and right side is facing. Picking up Stitches for Ankle
Needle 1) k across heel cup stitches, pick up and knit 10 (12) stitches from flap side facing, pick up and knit one stitch in the corner-—dig down a bit, to prevent a hole, don't just use the first bar Needle 2) work across top of foot stitches in (k4, p1 ribbing) as established; each end of needle will have p1 for Size S and k3 for Size M/L--26 (27) st on needle Needle 3) pick up and knit one stitch in corner, and 10 (12) stitches from flap side facing, and knit across 6 (7) st on the heel cup, PM for center bottom of foot Size S (17, 26, 17) st; Size M/L (20, 27, 20) st Work one round, Needle 1--k to last 2 st, k2tog; Needle 2—Rib Pattern as established; Needle 3—k2tog, knit to marker.
Decrease for Gusset (tube of foot)
I knit around foot evenly, knit top of foot (Needle 2) in ribbing pattern as establishe -k to last 3 st, k2tog, k1; Needle 2—rib pattern; Needle 3—k1, ssk, k to end of neec NDS 1 and 2 until 9 (11) st remain on Needles 1 and 3. Size S—44 st, Size M/L—49 s Knit one round (ribbing as established) and in top of foot for Size M/L only, (k2tog in the middle k4 rib section). Size S—44 st, Size M/L—48 st Work even (ribbing top of foot as established) until sock measures 3 inches less than foot measurement, ending at marker. Reposition needles so there is an equal number of stitches on top and bottom of foot with marker at center bottom of foot -22 (24); Needle 1—11 (12) st, Needle 2—22 (24) st, Needle 3— 11 (12) st
Toe Decrease

Finishing
Kitchener graft toe. Weave in ends. Make Right sock, working cables as C4R throughout cuff.
