super8 Cowl
By Bridget Pilloud Love up your throat with this Cozy cowl from Spakona Knits.

The Super8 Cowl
Knit in the round, the Super8 Cowl is a fast, easy introduction to both lace and cables. With just 34 rows and simple 8-stitch pattern repeats, you can knit something that looks much more complicated than it actually is. Designed in 3 sizes, from a neck-hugging cowl to a cocooning wrap, this scarf is perfect for those transitional days from fall to winter. We hope you enjoy this pattern from Spakona Knits!
Yarn anel Neeelles
Yarn used: Knitpicks Billow in Clarity. You can substitute any bulky yarn:

Small: 150 yds- Medium 250 yds- Large 400 yds Needles: Size 13 circular (9.OMM) Small: 16" - Medium: 24"- Large: 32" Gauge: Not super-important- 3 1/2 inches per inch, unblocked.
Notes on Construction
Bulky yarns block much larger than they first knit up. You may start knitting this and think "There's no way that this is going to be big enough." Odds are, it will be big enough. A 16-stitch swatch can be useful to knit up and block. so you can see how big this cowl blocks up for you. I recommend that you knit 4 stitches on each side of your swatch in garter stitch and then an 8-stitch lace panel in the middle, and then, after blocking, measure just the lace panel to get an accurate post-block measurement. If you have never knit lace before, don't be upset if your first attempt looks messy. It will. Pre-blocked lace looks terible. You willneed to block this cowl, but don't worry, blocking is not as difficult or scary as it seems. Spakona Knits @ 2013 Intuitive Bridge, All rights reserved. www.intuitivebridge.com

About Spakona Knits
Spakona is an Old Norse word that means “Seer" or “One with Foresight". I use this term to remind me to look around, to spiritually connect with the world. Everything I do, everything I experience is part of my spiritual journey, and thus part of everyone else's. Details matter. A lot. Knitting helps us slow down and notice, and it gives us an opportunity to run beautiful colors and textures through our fingers. We can create beautiful things for our spiritual journeys, and in the process, become grounded and aware. )akona Knits, a series of knitting patterns designed to support each chakra
Your 5th Chakra
Your 5th chakra, the throat chakra, helps you \~to speak clearly \~ to listen to others \~ to process information and to integrate your intuitive sense with your observing senses. Supporting your throat chakra requires careful attention. If you find yourself choking on your words, take a deep breath. If you find it hard to listen, take notice of your exhale. Treat your throat like the delicate instrument that it is, and you'll find it so much easier to be in your own skin. A lovely cowl can't hurt, either.
