Rivulet is worked from the top down in three garter stitch wedges. The edging is attached to the body of the crescent-shaped shawl as it is worked.

GAUGE
In garter stitch, 20 sts and 20 rows = 4" after blocking.

While gauge is not crucial, it will affect the finished size of the shawl and the amount of yarn Used.

NOTES
When working the edging, the stitch count will change from row to row and is noted in both the written instructions and the chart. When the shawl comes off your needles, it will look small, and the edging will be pulled in. Don't panic: a good soaking and an aggressive blocking opens it up beautifully.
SHAWL Garter tab
Cast on 2 sts. Knit 6 rows. Do not turn work. Pick up and knit 3 sts along edge, then pick up and knit 2 sts at cast on edge: 7 sts. Set uprow K2, yo, kl, pm, yo, kl, yo, pm, kl, yo, k2: 11 sts. Row 1: K2, yo, k to last 2 sts, yo k2. Row 2: K2, yo, k to marker, sm, yo, k to marker, yo, sm, k to last 2 sts, yo, k2. Work these 2 rows 35 times total: 221 sts on needle. Knit one row, removing markers as you come to them and increasing five stitches evenly spaced across row: 226 sts.
Edging
Cast on 14 sts. Knit 11, k2tog, yo, k2tog (one from edging, one from shawl body). Begin pattern: Row 1: K5, yo, k5, yo, k2tog, yo, k2: 16 sts Row 2: K2, purl 11, k2tog, yo, k2tog (one from edging, one from shawl body). Row 3: K6, sk2p, k2, (yo, k2tog) 2 times, k1: 14 sts. Row 4: K2, p9, k2tog, yo, k2tog (one from edging, one from shawl body). Row 5: K5, ssk, k2, (yo, k2tog) 2 times, kl: 13 sts. Row 6: K2, p8, k2tog, yo, k2tog (one from edging, one from shawl body). Row 7: K4, ssk, k2, (yo, k2tog) 2 times, k1: 11 sts. Row 8: K2, p7, k2tog, yo, k2tog (one from edging, one from shawl body). Row 9: K3, ssk, k2, (yo, k2tog) 2 times, k1: 11 sts.
