Designer's Notes:

I designed Lise with color in mind, and wrote this pattern as though you were going to change colors every round like I did in my samples - meaning I didn't provide alternate instructions for not changing colors each round like I usually try to do. I know the notion of weaving in all those ends terrifies some people. So let's talk about what to do if you don't want to change colors that often. One of the things I unfortunately don't think about when designing is how to make a pattern work with just one piece of yarn - by that I mean one color from start to finish with no fastening off. I think about it looking good in one color, but not how to make the yarn flow from one round to the next. Then when I sit down to finally write the pattern I figure out when the yarn can and cannot be carried to the next round with the goal of as few cuts as possible. This pattern almost had me stumped. There was just no good way to keep the yarn flowing. But I came up with a solution for those that really want to use all one color or don't want to change colors as often as every round. I wrote each round to begin in a corner, so simply slst to the next corner ch2 sp anytime you don't want to cut the yarn and use the ch alternative to the standing stitches I call for. This should get you all the way through round 12. Round 13 starts with bp stitches, and well, you know how those go. So you'll probably have to cut once there, but I think that should be it. And, of course, you're always welcome to hack the pattern and start in the joining stitch, but this will only work for a few rounds of the same color at a time. The callis yours. I recommend you use a magic circle and not a chain loop to begin so that you can get a very tight loop at the center. See my tutorial for doing a double magic circle, which tends to be more secure, here: http:/ /everytrickonthehook.com/2015 /05 /06 /working-magic-circles / In rows 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, and 16 it is optional to work in the back loops of the sc from the previous round. But it does tend to look nice if you changed colors. If you didn't change colors, I would skip it.
