Finished Size: 4 % inches long and 4 inches tall

Hedgehog Rattle

Materials: 1 ounce of brown and tan colored yarn and 2 feet of black yarn. Size F hook (3.75 mm), fiber fill, stitch marker, 2 (12mm) safety eyes, tapestry needle and jingle bell(s). Bells come in all sizes, but the bigger it is, the better sound it makes. You can also put multiple bells inside for a louder sound. Helpful Info: I use the magic adjustable ring in several places on this project. If you have never started with a magic ring before, then this is a helpful website that I have used. It walks you through step by step with pictures but you will only chain one for my pattern instead of the three they show in these directions: http://www.crochetme.com/forums/t/28917.aspx. This will be worked in rounds, so move stitch marker in beginning stitch of each new round. Tie in loose ends as you go. Make sure you are crocheting from the inside out. For this pattern, I use the number after the stitch to say "in the next _ stitches." For example, sc 6 means sc in the next 6 stitches. With a number before the stitch, it is a stitch increase. For example, 2 sc means two sc in the next stitch.

Body:

Rnd 1: With black, magic ring - 6 sc, changing to tan in last sc. 2-3: sc in each st. (6) 4: 2 sc in each st. (12) 5: (sc, 2 sc) six times. (18) 6: (sc 2, 2 sc) six times. (24) 7: (sc 3, 2 sc) two times, (hdc 3, 2 hdc) two times, (sc 3, 2 sc) two times. (30) 8: (sc 4, 2 sc) two times, (hdc 4, 2 hdc) two times, (sc 4, 2 sc) two times. (36) 9: (sc 11, 2 sc) three times. (39) 10: (hdc 9, 2 hdc) three times, hdc 9 changing to brown in last stitch. (42) Attach eyes between rows 7 and 8 making sure that they are evenly placed in the hdc stitches, not the sc stitches. Double check the placement, because once you put the safety eyes on, there is no changing your mind. 11: Working in front loops only, hdc around. (42) 12-17: Working in both loops, hdc around. (42) 18: (hdc 5, hdc dec) six times. (36) 19: (hdc 4, hdc dec) six times. (30) 20: (hdc 3, hdc dec) six times. (24) 21: (hdc 2, hdc dec) six times. (18) Stuff with fiberfill and bells. 22: (hdc, hdc dec) six times. (12) 23: hdc dec six times. (6) 24: hdc dec three times. (3) Fasten off
