Bob & Weave Tote and Purse
The pattern is for the large tote with notes at the end for the small one. This project is worked in the round from the bottom up. Gauge is not important for this project. Large bag size is 17 1%4" W x 11 12" tall, smaller bag is 14" W x 9 12" tall, not including handles. Your bag size may be different depending on the hook and yarn used as well as your crocheting style.

FPDC- To make a Front Post Double Crochet, YO, insert hook in stitch indicated from front to back between the posts of the double crochet of the row below (fig. A), YO and draw up a loop, pulling back around the post, to the length of the previous stitch completed, YO and draw through two loops, twice. FPDC completed (fig. B). BPDc- To make a Back Post Double Crochet, YO, insert hook in stitch indicated from back to front between the posts of the double crochet of the row below (fig. C), YO and draw up a loop, pulling back around the post, to the length of the previous stitch completed, YO and draw through two loops, twice. BPDC completed (fig. D). Note: It is possible to do a BPDC around the bobble, but it's kind of a pain. See the pictures below for how I modified it so it's easier. If you choose to go around the bobble you'll have to “push" it back out when the stitch is completed. BO- YO, insert hook into stitch indicated, YO and pull through a loop (fig E), YO, pull through 2 loops (fig. F), YO, insert hook in same stitch, YO, pullup a loop (fig. G), YO, pull through two loops (3 loops on hook, [fig. Hl), YO, insert hook in same stitch, YO, pull up a loop, YO, pullthrough two loops (4 loops on hook)YO, insert hook in same stitch, YO, pull up a loop, YO, pull through two loops (5 loops on hook), YO, insert hook in same stitch, YO pull up a loop, YO, pull through two loops (6 loops on hook,[fig. I]), YO and pull through all 6 loops on hook. BO completed (fig. I). Notes: The chain 1 at the beginning of each sc round is used to keep track of the start of the round. A marker placed in the first stitch can be used if preferred and the ch1 omitted. The ch3 at the beginning of each dc round counts as the first dc unless otherwise stated.

RND 41- ch1, sc in the same st as ch1 and in each st around (sc into each ch), join to first sc. RND 42- ch1, sc in the same st as ch1 and in each sc around, join to first sc, F0.
To finish inside of handles:
Join with sl st to any inside corner of handle, sc around for two rounds, Fo. Repeat for opposite handle.
Button loop:
Make a ch long enough for your chosen button. Leave a long tail to sew lop to bag. Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, Fo leaving a long enough tail to sew loop to bag.
Finishing:
Fold loop in half, with tapestry needle sew the loop to the outside center of the bag on either side of the stitch marker. Sew the button to opposite side of bag.
Modifications for small bag:
The smaller bag is made by following the same pattern; I just started with a shorter chain and changed the top so it was more purse like. I ended the body with RND 24 then sc'd for 7 rounds, decreasing every other round to narrow the top. I improvised a flap instead of using a button loop, made a cord for the strap and attached it using grommets and some great beads I found at JoAnn's. You can of course, make the bag shorter or taller depending on your preferences. The counts for each round are below. Ch. 28 RND 1=60, RND 2=64, RND 3=72, RND 4=80, RND 5=88, RND 6=96 (FO after this round). RND 7- Join yarn with sl st in any ch2 sp., ch 3 (counts as first dc), 2dc in same sp as ch3, dc in the next sc and in each sc around, placing 3dc in each ch2 sp., join to top of beg ch3 (108) RND 8-24 = same as large bag.
