Toast Wrap

By Madeline Bourque The Toast Wrap was inspired by the fairisle twisted wrap featured in the Toast UK Fall 20ll catalogue. My version does not include the twist. However, it should be fairly easy to incorporate the twist into this pattern if you want. This is the first pattern I have ever written, so it will undoubtedly include mistakes. If you notice any, please email me at madelinebourque@gmail.com and I will make the appropriate corrections.

INSTRUCTIONS
Using provisional cast-on and GRAY yarn, cast on 180 stitches, place marker, and join for working in the round. Join RED yam and work rows I-18 ofthe chart. Repeat rows I-18 thirteen times, or until the piece measures approximately 65 cm (25.6 inches). While keeping the yarn on the needles, retumn to the beginning of the piece and unravel the provisional cast-on, placing the live stitches on the second pair of circular needles.

Align the live stitches on the two pairs of circular needles so that the beginning and end of the piece meet to form a loop (see my bad drawings at the bottom of this page). Make sure that the first stitches of the beginning and the last stitches of the end line up in such a way that the fairisle patterm is continuous. Graft the beginning and end together using Kitchener stitch. 'eave in ends (there should only be two when you are done grafting Wash in lukewarm water with Wool Wash and lay flat to dry.
