Pippy's Sweater These instructions are for a basic sweater in stocking stitch (st st). On this version I knitted a cable pattern on the back (taken from a panel designed by Melissa Leapman used on her Men's Entwined Circles Pullover).

For Pippy's Sweater I used 2 skeins King Cole Moorland Aran and 4.5 mm circular and straight needles. My tension was 20 st and 25 rows to 10 cm. I took the following measurements: Neck circumference:34 cm Chest circumference: 45 cm Tummy circumference: 43 cm Back length from neck to tail: 38 cm Tummy length from front legs to edge of work: 24 cms Length from neck to top of leg: 5 cm
Neckband
Using circular needles and the magic loop, cast on 68 stitches. Place marker at start of round and work 5 cm in k2,p2 rib.
Main body
Now, working in st st, increase one st, work to last 10 sts, place marker, increase one stitch, knit to end. Continue in st st and increasing one stitch after each marker until there are 90 sts. Creating leg holes Changing to straight needles, work to second marker and turn (leaving remaining stitches on circular needle). Continue in st st until work measures 5 cm ending with a wrong side row. Cut yarn and place stitchesontoastitchholder. Rejoin yarn to the stitches on the circular needle and work as a straight piece and in st st, for 5 cms. Next row, knit stitches on circular needle, place marker, work stitches from holder and then place marker. Continue working in the round, decreasing one stitch after each marker on every other round for 20 rows. From next row continue in st st on back of garment and change to k2,p2 rib between the two markers. After 5 rows, work to first marker, then cast off to second marker. Rejoin yarn and continue on straight needles. Cast off 3 stitches at the start of the next 4 rows. Decreasing one stitch at each end of work on alternate rows, continue until 16 stitches remain. Place these stitches on a stitch holder.
Back Rib edging
With a circular needle, pick up and knit 24 stitches on right side of back edge, knit stitches from holder, then pick up and knit 24 stitches on left side of back edge. Work 1 row of k2,p2 rib. Decrease by 1 st at start and end of alternate rows for 4 rows. Cast off remaining stitches.
Leg Opening Rib edging
Pick up and knit 28 stitches around leg opening. Work 5 rows of k2,p2 rib. Cast off. Repeat for second leg opening. Sew in looseends.
