Crochet Dalek
This pattern will guide you
through the creation of your very owen 9" Dalek from Doctor Wbo!
BOTTOM OF BASE:
In black, chain 14 1 - 10: 10 rows of 14 sc 11: dec 1, sc until last two stitches remain, dec 1 12: sc 12 across 13: decrease first and last sc 14: sc 10 across 15: dec first and last 16: sc 8 across
SIDES OF BASE:
2: sc all 1: 18 stitches along side if rows in top loops, 14 sc along starting chain in top loops, 18 along other side.
Materials:
· 1 /9 5.50 crochet hook · 3 pipe cleaners · Black worsted /#4 yarn Grey worsted /#4 yarn White worsted /#4 yarn Main color of your choice worsted /#4 yarn This pattern assumes knowledge of working in rounds and binding off. sc = single crochet dec = decrease inc = increase ss = slip stitch 17: dec first 19: sc first 3 and last tog, sc last 3 18: sc 6 across tog 20: dec 1
3: sc 3, dec 1, sc 3, dec 1, sc 3, dec 1, sc to last of this side and then dec last stitch w first if the flat (back) side. Sc across back until last stitch then dec last with first stitch if third side. Sc 3, dec 1, sc 3, dec 1, sc 3, dec 1, sc 3. 4: Round is all in back loops only. Sc 2, dec 1. Sc 2, dec 1, sc 2, dec 1, sc 1, dec 1 at end of side/ beginning of back. Sc 3, dec 1, sc 2, dec 1, sc 2, dec 1 at the corner, sc 1, dec 1, sc 2, dec 1, sc 2, dec 1, sc 2, dec 1 5: Sc 1, dec 1 and repeat.
DALEK BODY:
Change to main color of your Dalek. 1: In front loops, sc all the way around
4-5: two rounds of main color sc. 6: Repeat row 3. 7: Sc in main color. 8: Sc 2, dec 1 and repeat for the round. 9: Repeat row 3, just do best to align baubles with previous rows 10: Sc in main color. 11: Repeat row 9 12: Sc 2, dec 1 in main color and repeat.
DALEK CHEST:
Stuff the base and body. Switch to grey (shown in black). 1: In front loops. sc 2, inc 1 and repeat 2: sc 3, inc 1 and repeat. 3: sc in back loops 4: sc 4, dec 1 and repeat 5: Back loops sc 3, dec 1 and repeat 2: sc around 3: Sc 1 in blue, in grey bauble ( yo, loop through, yarn through first two, repeat 3x more and then yarn through all loops on hook) ((on all rows w baubles for the rivets on the body, always use the main color to pull through all loops on the hook for each stitch.)) sc 1, bauble, sc 1, bauble, sc 1, bauble, sc 1, bauble, sc 2, bauble, sc 1, bauble, sc 1, bauble, sc 1, bauble, sc 1, bauble, sc 1, bauble, sc 1
Stop and create arms.
Sucker arm:
Fold a pipe cleaner in half. 1 - 8: In grey, chain 3, join and sc 8 rows around a pipe cleaner. Leave a long tail for sewing towards the open end of the pipe cleaner halves. Scoot the arm almost to the bent end of the pipe cleaner. 9: Change to black and 2 sc in each sc. Join 10: Sc 1, inc 1 and repeat Push open ends of pipe cleaner into the right arm position. Open the ends of the pipe cleaner inside the Dalek as if it were a brad. Push the open ends inside the Dalek around the edges to help shape the area.
Ch 8 and attach at other end with ss. Join and leave tail for sewing.
Join yarn half way in between the chain attachments just created and chain 8. Attach to opposite end. Chain 8, attach to opposite end and leave tail for sewing.
Exterminate gun:
Fold pipe cleaner in half. 1-7: In grey, chain 3, join and sc 7 rows. Join and push to folded end of pipe cleaner. Ch 8 and attach at opposite end with ss. Push open end of pipe cleaner into the left arm position. Open the ends of the pipe cleaner inside the Dalek as if it were a brad. Push the open ends inside the Dalek around the edges to help shape the area. Sew both arms in place. Weave in ends.
Continuing with Dalek neck and head:
1: Sc 3, dec 1 and repeat. 2: Switch to main color and sc the round 3: Switch to black sc in front loops 4: sc in back loops 5: sc in front loops
Eyestalk:
Fold pipe cleaner in half. 1-3: In grey, chain 3, join and sc 3 rows. 4: sc 2 in each sc, front loops 5: sc round 6: dec to 3 sc 7: sc around Join and push to folded end of pipe cleaner. 8: Change to black: 2 sc in each sc. Join 9: Sc 1, inc 1 and repeat 10: sc all Leave a long tail and sew end closed.
6: sc in back loops 7: Switch to main color and sc in front loops 8: in front loops, sc 3, inc 1 and repeat 9: in front loops sc 2, inc 1 and repeat 10: in back loops sc the round 11: sc the round 12: sc 4, dec 1 and repeat 13: sc 3, dec 1 the round
Push open end of pipe cleaner into the eyestalk position. Open the ends of the pipe cleaner inside the Dalek as if it were a brad. Push the open ends inside the Dalek around the edges to help shape the area. Sew eyestalk in place. Weave in ends. Continue with head: 1: sc 2, dec 1 and repeat 2: sc 1, dec 1 and repeat Stuff if as needed leave a long tail to sew hole closed Lights: Make 2 in white chain 3 and join 1 - 3: SC 3 Leave tail and sew into light positions on top of head. Stop and make eyestalk.
EXTERMINATE!!!
