Dudley the Moose

Materials:
Hook: G (4.25 mm) or hook needed to obtain gauge Worsted Weight Yarn (4) in 3 colours: Main Colour (MC), Contrast Colour (CC) and Black Polyester Stuffing Stitch Marker Tapestry Needle \*Optional: 6 mm or 9 mm safety eyes
Abbreviations:
Ch = Chain Sc = single crochet Scinc = single crochet increase Invdec = invisible decrease (single crochet 2 together) Dc = double crochet Hdc = half double crochet Rnd = round

· Finished Size: Approx. 4.5 inches tall and 6.5 inches long · Gauge: 4 sc =1 inch · This pattern is worked in continuous rounds. Head Body (Make 1):
Tip: I suggest using 6 mm Rnd 1 - using MC create a magic ring, sc 6 safety eyes; insert them Rnd 2 - scinc in each stitch around (12) according to manufacturer's Rnd 3-9 - sc in each stitch around (12) directions between Rnds 11 12 Rnd 10 - scinc 6 times, sc in last 6 stitches (18) approx. 1 inch apart. Rnd 11-14 - sc in each stitch around (18) Rnd 15 - \*invdec, sc in next\* repeat around (12), stuff the head. Rnd 16 - \*scinc, sc in next\* repeat around (18) Rnd 17 - sc in next 6, scinc in next 3 stitches, sc in next 6 stitches, sc inc in last 3 (24) Rnd 18-20 - sc in each stitch around (24) Rnd 21 - sc in next 7, invdec 3 times, sc in last 11 (21) Rnd 22-30 - sc in each stitch around (21) Rnd 31 - \*invdec, sc in next\* repeat around (14), finish stuffing the body. Rnd 32 - invdec 7 times (7) Fasten off leaving a 6 inch long tail for sewing. Weave the yarn in and out the front loops and pulltight to close the hole.
Front Legs (Make 2):
Rnd 1 - using black create a magic ring, sc 6, change to MC. Rnd 2-12 - sc in each stitch around (6) Fasten off leaving a 10 inch tail for sewing. Stuff the leg lightly. Weave the yarn in and out of the front loops and pull tight to close the hole (do not fasten off yet!). Attach the front legs approximately 17 rounds back from tip of the nose.
Rear Legs (Make 2):
Rnd 1 - using black create a magic ring, sc 6, change to MC. Rnd 2-11 - sc in each stitch around (6) Rnd 12 - invdec, sc in next stitch, scinc in next 2 stitches, sc in last stitch (7) Rnd 13 - sc in first 2 stitches,[sc+hdc] in next, 2 dc in next, [hdc+sc] in next, sc in last 2 stitches (1o) Fasten off leaving a 12 inch tail for sewing. Stuff the leg lightly. Weave the yarn in and out of the front loops and pull tight to close the hole (do not fasten off yet!). Attach the rear legs approximately 5 rounds back from the front legs.
Ears Tail (Make 3):
Row 1 - using MC ch 2, sc 4 in second ch from hook (4) Fasten off leaving an 8 inch long tail. Sew the ears on slightly above and behind the antlers between rnds 14 15. Attach the tail to the middle of the back end.
Antlers (Make 2):
Rnd 1 - using CC create magic ring, 4 sc; turn Rnd 2 - ch 3, sc in second ch from hook, sc in next, sc to first sc; ch 4, hdc in second ch from hook, hdc in next 2, sc to next sc; ch 4, hdc in second ch from hook, hdc in next 3, sc to next sc; ch 3, sc in second ch from hook, sc in next, sc to last sc; ch 4, sc in second ch from hook, sc in next 3, slip stitch to first sc (17) Fasten off leaving an 8 inch long tail. Sew the antlers on between rounds 13 14, spacing 3-4 sc apart. Tip: Antlers should be placed slightly on the side of the head, not directly on top.
Dewlap (Chin Piece) (Make 1):
Row 1 - using MC ch 5, sc in second ch from hook, hdc in next, dc in last 2 (4) Fasten off leaving an 8 inch long tail. Attach to the underside of the head approx. 10 rnds from the tip of the nose. (See photo below).
Finishing Dudley:
Using three 12 inch pieces of black yarn, embroider on the eyes (approximately 2 rnds in front of the ears antlers) and nostrils on the tip of the nose. (See photo below).
