
The Graduand Scarf
A simple, textured scarf ideal for beginners and practising techniques.

Knitting, purling, increasing and decreasing
Materials
US Size 13/9mm straight needles Tapestry needle for weaving in ends Yarn: 200m /218 yds super bulky yarn (such as DROPS Andes, available at The Yarn Cake) \*The sample scarf is knit using 2 balls of DROPS Andes, and can be wrapped once around the neck. More yarn can be used to create a longer scarf.
Instructions
Set-up
Cast on 30 stitches and knit two rows.
Section One- Moss stitch panel
Row 1: Slip 1st stitch, purl 1, knit 1 to end of row. Row 2: Slip 1st stitch, knit 1, purl 1 to end of row. Repeat Rows 1 and 2 eight times.
Section 2- Eyelets
Row 1: Slip 1st stitch, knit to end of row. Row 2: Slip 1st stitch, \*yarn over, knit 2 together. Repeat from \* to last stitch, knit 1.
Section 3- Garter middle
Row 1: Slip 1st stitch, knit all stitches. Repeat until 40 grams of yarn remain. @2013 Cia Jackson
Section 4- Eyelets
Row 1: Slip 1st stitch, knit to end of row. Row 2: Slip 1st stitch, \*yarn over, knit 2 together. Repeat from \* to last stitch, knit 1.
Section 5- Moss stitch panel
Row 1: Slip 1st stitch, purl 1, knit 1 to end of row. Row 2: Slip 1st stitch, knit 1, purl 1 to end of row. Repeat Rows 1 and 2 eight times.
Finishing
Cast off all stitches. Weave in ends using tapestry needle before soaking and blocking to desired size.
