Gauge: 15 sts = 10cm/4" with bigger (6 mm / US 10) needles in pattern.

I deal with household, organize daily life, run family business, knit and design and do my best to keep everyone healthy, well fed, content and alive. So I regularly make stupid mistakes, like losing my hat in the very beginning of the winter. Winter is serious here: you can't function long without proper knitwear. So I did what any sensible knitter would do, I searched my deep stash for some thick yarn and finished a new hat in only one night. The bulky yarn makes this hat warm and windproof, and it's only a few hours work to make - the multitasking mom's dream. It goes so fast on large needles, with a simple pattern that is easy to remember. A great pattern for a last-minute gift too.
Instructions
Using smaller needles CO 72 sts. Add BOR marker. Join your knitting in the round, being careful not to twist the stitches. Knit in 2x2 rib (\*k2, p2\*, rep. until the end of the row) for 12 rounds.
Body of the hat:
Change to bigger needles. Increase row: \*p7, pfb\* until the end of the row. 81 sts
Pattern:
Rows 1-2: p2, k1 Rows 3-4: knit Repeat the 4 rows f the pattern until you reach 20 cm/8" fromt the CO edge.
Crown of the hat:
Row 1: \*p2, k1\*. Row 2: \*p2tog, k1\*. 54 sts Row 3: \*k2tog\*.27 sts Row 4: \*k2tog\* until the last st, k1. 14 sts Remove B0R marker. Cut yarn leaving a 15 cm (6 inches) or longer tail. Thread through live stitches and draw closed. Weave in ends. Block gently.
