TENSION/GAUGE
23 sts and 30 rows $=\!10$ cms/4 inches NB All Ipod sock figures shown in brackets.
PLAIN SOCK INSTRUCTIONS
Cast on 18(21)sts Knit 8 rows (this makes a garter stitch border). Next Row: Knit to end Next Row: Purl to end Repeat last 2 rows until work measures 27 (15) cms / 10.5 (6) inches from cast on edge. Knit 8 rows. Cast off
Make Drawstring
Measure $4\;\mathrm{ms}/5$ yards of yarn. Fold in half twice so that you have 4 strands. Attach end with consisting on only loops to solid surface with tape and twist tightly. Carefully remove tape and allow yarn to twist back on itself as double thickness. Knot each end.
MAKE UP
Fold in half so that work is 15cms long. Stitch one side up to garter stitch border and one side allthe way to the top including garter stitch border. Place drawstring along garter stitch border. Fold border to make a hem enclosing drawstring so that ends hang loose together to one side of sock to allow for pulling closed.
TWISTED STOCKING STITCH SOCK
As for plain sock but knit into back of stitch on all knit rows apart from garter stitch border.
STRIPED STOCKING STITCH SOCK
As for plain sock but change colour every 2 rows except for garter stitch border.
