You will need...
Yarn Color A (Red Heart Super Saver Solids in Petal Pink) Small amount of black yarn or black fabric paint to make nostrils Fiberfill Stuffing Yarn Needle Size D 3.25mm or desired crochet hook 6mm eyes Stitch Markers Sewing needles (optional - to hold pieces in place before sewing)
Stitches and Abbreviations used..
Ch - chain SI - slip stitch Sc - single crochet ? St - stitch Sts - stitches Rpt - repeat Inc - increase, 2 sc in the same space Dec - decrease or sc2tog (single crochet 2 together) Note : All pieces are made in a continuous spiral unless otherwise stated. Most pieces begin with a magic ring, but you can also use a ch 2 to start. The entire pig is made with Yarn Color A.
Head
Rnd 1 \~ Using a magic ring, place 4 sc into the magic ring Rnd 2 \~ inc around (8 sc) Rnd 3 \~ in inner loops only, sc around (8 sc) Rnd 4 \~ sc around (8 sc) Rnd 5 \~ inc in the next 4 sts, sc in the last 4 sts (12 sc) Rnd 6 \~ (sc, inc) 4 times, sc in the last 4 sts (16 sc) Rnds 7-9 \~ sc around (16 sc) Rnd 10 \~ sc in 2 sts, dec / rpt around (12 sc) Start stuffing, add more stuffing as needed. Insert eyes between rnds 6&7 Rnd 11 \~ sc, dec / rpt around (8 sc) Rnd 14 \~ dec around (4 sc) · Fasten off leaving a long tail. Using your yarn needle sew close.
Ears (make 2)
Row 1 \~ Leaving a beginning tail, ch 2, inc in the 2nd ch from the hook. (2 sc) ch 1, turn Row 2 \~ sc, inc (3 sc) ch 1, turn Row 3 \~ sc in 3 (3 sc) ch 1, turn Row 4 \~ sc, inc, sc (4 sc) · Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing. · Weave in the end of beginning tail. · Sew ears onto the top of the pig's head.
Body
Rnd 2 \~ inc around (12 sc) Rnd 3 \~ sc, inc / rpt around (18 sc) Rnds 4-5 \~ sc around (18 sc) Rnd 7 \~ sc around (15 sc) Rnd 8 \~ sc in 3 sts, dec / rpt around (12 sc) Rnd 9 \~ sc around (12 sc)
Arms (make 2)
Rnd 1 \~ Using a magic ring, place 4 sc into the magic ring Rnd 2 \~ inc around (8 sc) Rnds 3-5 \~ sc around (8 sc) ● Stuff hand, do not stuff the rest of the arm. Rnd 6 \~ sc in 2 sts, dec / rpt around (6 sc) Rnds 7-10 \~ sc around (6 sc) Rnd 11 \~ Ch 1, fold arm in half and crochet through both sides at the same time (3 sc) · Fasten off, leaving a long tail. · Sew onto the body right under the head.
Legs (make 2)
Rnd 1 \~ Using a magic ring, place 6 sc into the magic ring Rnd 2 \~ inc around (12 sc) Rnds 3-5 \~ sc around (12 sc) · Stuff foot, do not stuff the rest of the leg. Rnd 6 \~ sc, dec / rpt around (8 sc) Rnds 7-9 \~ sc around ((8 sc) Rnd 10 \~ Ch 1, fold leg in half and crochet through both sides at the same time (4 sc) ·Fasten off, leaving a long tail. · Sew onto the bottom of the body.
Tail
Ch 4, 3 sc in the 2nd ch from the hook, 3 sc in the next st, sc in the last st. Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing. Sew onto the bottom back of the pig's body. Nostrils - With black paint or black yarn, give your piggy some nostrils.
