ly Shellee Harris I needed a cowl so I worked this up and immediately fell in love. The stitch pattern is just a variation of k2 p2 ribbing, but it gives a great textured feel, especially in Bulky or Super Bulky yarn. This pattern is written for two lengths and two weights of yarn, which lets you make a cowl that is exactly right.

PATTERN NOTES
It is recommended that you read through the pattern before starting your project. Measurements were taken by gently flattening out the traveling rib pattern. This project should not be stretched, twisted or flattened out when wet or you will lose the textural quality of the pattern. If you decide to soak and block, just squash the cowl together to dry instead of stretching it out. Once it's fully dry if you pull gently from top to bottom it should help the texture of the pattern reappear.
MODIFICATIONS
You can easily modify this pattern by changing the number of cast-on stitches and the number of rnds. You may cast on any multiple of 4 and change the number of rnds to change the size of the cowl. I used the recommended needle size for the yarn listed. I have noticed that Bulky and Super Bulky yarn vary widely in st per inch. You may size up or down in needle size as you desire for the look you want. This pattern is very flexible and gauge is not a critical part of this pattern. It is fine to change the needle size as you wish. This pattern is meant to work for one skein of yarn for the Short version of the cowl and two skeins of yarn for the Long version. If you don't have quite as much yardage as listed in the pattern, it is recommended that you follow the pattern until you must bind off.
TRAVELING DIRECTIONS
As shown, the cowl was cast on using the cable cast on method and bound offby continuing in pattern and passing the 1s st over the 2"d stitch for any two st on the right-hand needle. The cast on edge and bound off edge will then appear very similar. Bulky(Short, Long), Super Bulky[Short, Long]. Cast on Bulky(88, 184), Super Bulky[56, 120] st loosely using correct size needles for your cowl. Place a marker for the beginning of the round and join being careful not to twist. You will slip the marker on all following rounds. Begin with Round 1 on the Written Directions or the Chart for the Traveling Rib Pattern Short - Bulky: Repeat Rnds 1-16 twice, and then Rnds 1-12 once more. 44 rnds. Long - Bulky: Repeat Rnds 1-16 twice. 32 rnds. Short - Super Bulky: Repeat Rnds 1-16 twice. 32 rnds. Long - Super Bulky: Repeat Rnds 1-16 once, and then Rnds 1-8 once more. 24 rnds.
