Flapper Skirt

You need: 2 skeins of yarn - 1 of each colour. ( I always play on the safe side and take an extra skein :D) ( size 3 yarn or seize 4) Hook 4mm Elastic ( width: 1,1/4 inch) Measurement Stitch marker Waist: 0-3 = 16 inch (15 inches) 3-6 = 17 inch (16 inch) 6-9 = 17 inch (16 inch) 9-12 = 17.5 inch (16.5 inch) For the elastic you take approx 1 inch shorter. crochet part will be the above measurements, elastic is Length of the skirt: 0-3 - 5 inch 3-6 - 5.75 inch 6-9 - 6.5 inch 9-12 -7.25 inch Note: please measure these 2 seizes for your own child, this is not exact science If you reached the desired length for your size, than stop. The 22 rows are for age 9-12 months. But it's possible the child is smaller or larger. US terms: Ss= slipstitch Sc = single crochet Dc = double crochet Flo - frond loop only I won't give stitch count, because that doesn't really matter. Row 1 : Make a chain as long as your waist required, make sure it's an uneven number. For a 9-12 month your chain should be about 17.5 inches. Close the chain with a ss in the first chain. Make sure it's not twisted. Row 2: chain 4 - skip 1 stitch, 1 dc in next chain - \* chain 1-skip 1-1 dc in next stitch\* Repeat between \*\* all around. Chain 1 and ss in third of first chain 4. Row 3: chain 1 (does not count as first stitch), 1 sc all around in de chain 1 spaces and the dc. Row 4: chain 1 (does not count as first stitch), 1 sc all around flo Row 5 : chain 1 (does not count as first stitch), 1 sc all around both loops Row 6 - 21: repeat row 5. Row 22: repeat row 4. Don't fasten off !! Length is now approx 7.25 inch. (your number rows may be different if you use other elastic or crochet tighter or looser. Make sure to fit now and than) This length is for a 9-12 month old child, make sure to read the length in the beginning of the pattern for the size you want. This is the waist band, between the 2 rows with de flo, your elastic should fit, when you fold it double.

\* note: if you use smaller or wider elastic, than increase or decrease number of rows, until your elastic fits between the 2 rows whit flo. Those back loops we are going to use toclosethis. So make slure it fits. Place elastic towards backloop of row 4 and fold the other half over the elastic. The backloops of row 4 should be against the backloops of row 22.

Note: for me it was easier to place the skein through the opening to the other side If you crochet tight, use a bigger hook for the rest of the pattern. SS through both backloops and close it. if you don't want to ss, you can use a needle to sew both sides together

It can be a little tricky and you have to look good, because the crochet part is wider than the elastic. Just follow the backloops closely Fasten off and weave in the ends. Attach the same colour in on of the DC, we will work from there. Row 1: chain 4, 1 dc in next dc . \* chain 1, 1 dc in next dc \* Repeat between \*\*. Chain 1 , ss in 3rd from first chain 4. Row 2: repeat row 1, change to colour 2 at the end of the row. Row 3 - 4 -- 5 , repeat row 1 but now with colour 2. At end of row 5, change to colour 1 again. Row 6-7-8: repeat row 1, with colour one. At end of row 8, change to colour 2. Row 9-10-11: , repeat row 1 but now with colour 2. At end of row 11, change to colour 1 again. Row 12-13-14: repeat row 1, in colour 1. Weave in all ends. fringe part, I know it's not fun, but wait until you see the : We are only making fringes in the first row of every 3 rows. So for size 12 months, this will be 5 rows. Not that bad ;) Cut pieces of yarn around 6 inches long. Cut a lot of pieces. In every block we are going to put 3 pieces of yarn.

The last row of fringes will be in the last row of sc. Or actually first row of sc :D

This is for now a test pattern and therefore may not be distributed by any way Ramona Smiers
