MADE with lightweight yarn, this hat is perfect for Spring season. Its designed for young girls to teenagers and anyone who feels young at heart. While the hat is made with a puffy shell motive, the brim is made with s simple Tunisian stitch.
NOTE:
Use strips of contrasting yarns as a place marker (PM). Insert the strip to an active loop and tie a loose knot to mark the beginning of a round. Leave the markers to easily count the number of rounds you are in the pattern.

PATTERN:

The Brim
The brim is done in Tunisian crochet simple st. Row 1: 7ch, insert hook into 2nd ch from hook on the bump of the chain, yo, pull through loop and leave on hook;\*( insert hook into next bump, yo, pull through loop and leave on hook); repeat from \* to end; insert hook into the next sc -- 8 loops on hook. Row 2: Yo, pull a loop through, draw through 2 loops; repeat until only 1 loop remain on hook. Row 3: Insert hook from right to left behind single vertical thread, yo, pull loop through and leave on hook. Row 4: Repeat row 2. Continue with the pattern until the end of the row, fasten off leaving 10 inches tail, using needle weave the two ends together. Joining the round: Cut the yarn leaving an end of about 4 inches; draw it through the last st. With the right side facing, thread the end in a yarn needle and insert it under the two loops of the st below the chain at the first row. Pull the needle through and insert it into the center of the last st of the round. Pull the needle from the right side and weave in below the vertical lines of all the stitches. Insert the needle and pull it in the wrong side and weave in to complete the stitches. Join yarn to the stitch close to the seam, hdc shell in each st around, join the round, fasten off.
FLOWER EMBELISHMENT (optional)

Pattern
Round 1: Using white, 2ch loosely, 8sc into 2nd ch from hook. join with sl st. Round 2: \*2ch, work 3hdc puff. Working toward the bottom of the petal, sl st in same sp as the puff st,1sc in next sc; repeat 7 more times -8 petals. Round 3: Working behind the petals, \*(sc to the ch loop under the center of next petal, 2ch) repeat 7 more times, join with sl st to first sl st - 8 ch-2 sp. Round 4: Insert hook in any ch-2 sp, pick up pink, \*(sc in next ch-2 sp, 5ch, work 3tr bobble, sl st in next tr, 5ch. Working toward the bottom of the petal, sl st in same ch-2 sp); repeat 7 more times, sl st to first sc —8 petals. Cut off pink. Round 5: Working behind the petals, \*(sc to ch loop under the center of first petal, 2ch) repeat 7 more times -- 8 ch-2 sp. Cut off pink. Round 6: Insert hook in any ch-2 sp, pick up dark pink, \*(sc in next ch-2 sp, 6ch, work 3dtr bobble, sl st in next dtr, 6ch. Working toward the bottom of the petal, sl st in same ch-2 sp); repeat 7 more times, sl st to first sc —8 petals. Cut off yarn leaving 25 cm tail. Flower center: Using eyelashes and leaving 10 cm tail, loosely make 2ch, 4sc into 2nd ch from hook. Join with sl st to first sc. Cut off yarn leaving 10cm tail. Tie a knot using the two ends. From behind the petals, insert the hook into the center of the flower all the way through the front, pull the tail from the eyelashes allthe way to the back of the petals. Gather all the tails at the back of the petals and tie a knot to secure and dub a drop of nail polish to the knot to secure.
Lotus Leaf
Using dark green, 11ch, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in every st across, 2ch- 11 sc. Round 1: 12dc in the first ch (the beginning ch of the 10-ch), join with sl st to the 2nd ch of beginning ch-2. Round 2: 1ch, 2sc in same ch-1 sp and in each st around, join with sl st to first sc, 2ch, turn. Round 3: Dc in same ch-2 sp, \*(1dc, 2dc in next st); repeat from \* to the last st. Cut off yarn leaving 30cm tail. Thread the end into a yarn needle, stitch the leaf to the back of the flower then stitch the pin into the back of the leaf
