GAUGE
32 stitches & 44 rows = 4 inches (10 cm) in charted pattern Note: Sock is worked from the cuff down, with a flap heel and gusset. These socks may be worked on dpns, 2 circular needles, or 1 long circular needle using the "Magic Loop" method. Directions are given for the small size, with medium size in brackets. Instructions
CO 56 (64) stitches.Arrange evenly on needles and join for working in the round。
CUFF
Work in 2 x 2 rib (knit 2,purl 2)for 1 inch (2.5 cm). Knit one row.
LEG
Begin working chart over all sts until sock measures 6" (7) from top of hem (or until desired length).
HEEL FLAP
Heel flap is worked back and forth in rows on 28 (32) sts. Row l(RS): \*(sl, kl), repeat from * to end of row. Row 2(ws): \*sl, purl to end. Repeat rows 1 and 2 until heel flap measures 2 1/2".
TURN HEEL
Row 1: sl, k13 (l6), k2tog, kl, turn.Row 2: sl, p5, p2tog, pl, turn. Row 3: sl, knit to l stitch beforegap, k2tog, kl, turn. Row 4: sl, purl to l stitch beforegap, p2tog, pl, turn. Repeat rows 3 and 4 until all stitchesare worked. Next row: knit across
GUSSET
Pick up 13 (l4)sts along right side of heel flap. Pick up l stitch in gap between heel flap and instep sts. Work instep stitches in pattern as established from chart. Pick up l stitch in gap between instep sts and heel flap.Pick up 13 (l4) sts along left side of heel flap.Knit to middle of heel.This is the new beginning of round. (Rearrange sts as needed on needles.)
ELIMINATE THE GAPS
Rnd l: Knit, continuing to work instep sts in pattern. Rnd 2: Knit to 2 sts before instep sts, k2tog, knit instep sts in pattern as established, ssk, knit to end of round.

FOOT
Continue knitting in pattern until sock measures 7 (8) inches from beginning of heel (or until desired length before beginning toe).
TOE
Rnd 1: Knit Rnd 2: Knit to m,k2tog,k2,Ssk,knit to m, k2tog, k2, ssk, k to end. Repeat rounds l and 2 five times. Repeat round 2 until 20 stitches remain. Knit 5 sts. Graft 10 upper and lower stitches together.
