banner garland - parakeet and white 1) With white thread, make a dc base chain as follows: ch 3, sk 2 chs next to hook, yo, insert hook in next ch, yo, pull up loop, yo, draw through 1" loop on hook, (yo, draw through 2 loops on hook) twice, [insert hook under the two vertical threads of lower half of dc just made, yo, pull up loop, yo, draw through 1" loop on hook, (yo, pull through 2 loops on hook) twice] repeat between brackets until 150 sts are completed and the garland measures approximately 17 / ” long 2) Holding 1 strand each of white and parakeet thread together, working in back loops only and leaving a 3” tail, join hook in 1" st on either end of garland. Slst into each st across. End off leaving a 3”' tail. Secure each tail with a knot made snug against the ends of the garland and use as a form of trailing “streamer-ettes". Note: This extra bit adds both color as well as stability to the rather stretchy garland and it works best if you hold off working this step until after all the pennants have been worked.
