General Notes
1. This sweater is made with a tremendous amount of negative ease (as much as 6 inches) so it will be formfitting and willstretch easily. Because of the negative ease it is important to keep trying on the sweater-inprogress to make sure the gauge is working in your favor. To create a less form-fitting sweater try a size larger than you would normally make. 2. Slip stitches can be tedious. Keep the stitches loose, it makes it easier to slide the hook into the stitches of the row below. Working with a hook that has a pointier head can also make it easier to get your hook under the correct loop, however some yarns are prone to splitting and a sharp-headed hook can make your life miserable in this case. Experiment to see what works best for you and the yarn you are using. 3. When creating a crocheted garment most pattens tell you to wet and block the pieces or the final garment to size. Ifind that sometimes the best way to customize an article of crochet clothing is by first wearing the completed garment for a day or two to determine what areas need to be blocked to fit. Do you find yourself tugging the edges of your sleeves or the hem of your shirt down? Perhaps the sleeve feels tight in one area? After a day of wearing your finished sweater you willknow if you want to block the waist a bit longer or the sleeves a bit wider. It doesn't work miracles, but it can help in some instances to make a more tailored piece. 4. A text in [brackets] is for optional sizing up to large/extra large sizes. If you are making the smal/medium size, then please disregard all instructions in [brackets]. If you are making the large/extra large size follow along with the smal/medium text unless there is a [bracketed text] substitution made.
